Dutch Sunshine pointed us to a Eurogamer.net piece of interesting news that you will want to check out for all the Guild Wars fanatics out there:
Jaeho Lee – the company’s chief financial officer, as well as chief executive of its Western arm – told investors during a recent conference call that NCsoft didn’t expect to make any major launches in 2010. Guild Wars 2 from ArenaNet, and Blade & Soul from the Lineage 2 team in Korea, would follow in 2011, he said.
“I believe there will be certain public events in the year 2010… at least a closed beta test for those titles. Commercialisation will be expected, at this point, probably some time in the year 2011,” Lee said.
We have a thread in our Tyrian Assembly forum discussing the news here: Guild Wars 2 Expected in 2011

We have come across a great story about a girl named Emily. She has heart failure and through the Make-A-Wish Foundation was allowed to tour the ArenaNet offices and play Guild Wars 2. Make-A-Wish Foundation is a children’s organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Emily’s Mom has up a great blog post about her tour of the ArenaNet offices and her experience there. You don’t want to miss this!
After lunch, they let her play Guild Wars 2, with a bunch of people in the office. It was a blast to play with the developers; at one point she said, “I wish there were some sticks on this beach.” One of the developers rewrote the game to put sticks there. There were lots of laughs, and the team really enjoyed watching her play and seeing what she focused on.
Read all about Emily’s story here: Emily’s Heart Updates.

Part two of OnlineWeltens epic interview with ArenaNet is now up! Thanks to Tr0n and Dutch Sunshine for letting us know so quickly.
Onlinewelten: Is there some kind of hierarchy among the dragons? Eye of the North gave the impression that Primordus was the boss.
Ree Soesbee: There is no hierarchy. Primordus is the boss of Primordus’s servants, whom we saw in Guild Wars: Eye of the North as the destroyers. Primordus was also the first dragon to ‘awaken’ in the world, although the actions of the player characters in that chronicle pushed back his actual rise for several generations. The other dragons, including Zhaitan and Jormag, are independent entities, powerful and inscrutable like forces of nature – and completely uncontrollable, even by one another.
German translation, here.
English translation, here.
As usual, if you want to discuss this story then check out this forum thread, containing insight and discussion of the interview. If you somehow managed to miss part one, then links to that can be found here.

OnlineWelten have just put up the first part of a fantastic interview with ArenaNet’s Ree Soesbee and Eric Flannum. Some very well chosen questions that will answer many of the more common questions regarding lore, and even some touching on gameplay issues.
The interview dives right in with what is by far the most pressing question on the mind of our community: Will there be female charr in Guild Wars 2?
Ree Soesbee: There certainly are female charr in GW2. In the history of the charr, the women were once strong warriors, as respected as the males. However, when the Flame Legion took over and tried to unify the race, one of their methods of forcibly pacifying the other legions was to refuse combat training to female charr. During this dark time, females had to train in secret, passing techniques down by word of mouth and suffering horrible penalties – even death – if they were caught using weapons or fighting in battles.
For the rest of that story and a whole heap of other Guild Wars 2 information hit the links below. If you want to discuss the interview, make your way to Tr0n’s thread, here.
For the interview in English, click here.
For the interview in German, click here.
Thanks to OnlineWelten for putting up both versions! Check back at the end of the week for part 2.

Naoroji was kind enough to let us know of a Guild Wars 2 article published in the Dutch PC gaming magazine ‘PCGameplay’. He posted up a rough translation of the article on the forum, which you can find here.
Here’s a quick excerpt with some interesting information on World PvP:
The World PvP Maps bear a resemblance to RTS-maps and give you a chance to play different roles. You can conquer stone mines, which will then deliver stone by caravan to your catapults, you can attack and cut off caravans of the enemy, you can operate as a scout and inform the rest of hostile movement, you can man watchtowers and defend, or you can just run up to a lost PvP’er and teach him a lesson.
Keep in mind it isn’t an official translation, and some of the intended meaning may have been lost or distorted in the process.
To read more or discuss the article hit the link above. Thanks Naoroji!
