When I think of my perfect avatar for a role playing game I dont think about models or conventions of sex symbols.
I want to create an interesting looking character... it would be out of the ordinary to have realistic people instead of the same old stereotypes of heros that we see in every mmo again and again. I would like a body weight feature for the character creation and more diversity in general for a change. All the faces dont have to be ''perfect'' and boring. Would you like to have diversity of characters in GW2 besides the old stereotypes? What else do you want to see in the character creation? There are a LOT of options that are being left outside of the character customization if you look the trailers and the current tendency of other mmos. http://s1.subirimagenes.com/fondosyc...sand-fists.jpg http://www.guildwars2.com/global/inc...n/human-02.jpg Last edited by C410V1370; Mar 12, 2010 at 09:07 AM. |

I agree with the faces and a little bit on the body structure, but....
How is it logical to think that someone who is very heavy and out of shape (as an example of a body type) going to be an epic warrior with incredible endurance and/or agility? Imagine an over-weight assassin flying around and flipping and stuff. As humans, we all have the right and the freedom to look however we want. This is great. In a combat setting, most of us would fail hard. I think, just to be realistic, if you want to have a body scaling mechanism (which would be cool either way) then if you go outside of certain perimeters then your character's stats actually begin changing. A tall and slightly heavy guy will have more strength then a average height and slightly skinnier dude who has higher agility. As you add and subtract the weight, height, and muscle-to-fat ratio (BMI) it changes your innate stats automatically. This could even be used in a way to help determine your class. That would be sweet, actually. The face, you can do whatever you want with it. Maybe certain proportions that our over certain limits affect your charisma (if that's included). |

I think some fat people are stronger and faster than the regular people. Just bc someone is bigger it doesn't mean its ''out of shape''.
I would also like to see older people. Last edited by C410V1370; Mar 12, 2010 at 09:18 AM. |

While I definitely know some over weight people that are strong then some average weight people, I don't know anyone that is over weight person that is as strong as someone of the same weight, but it's in muscle instead of fat.
I think it'd be perfectly fine to see some over weight warriors (or warrior style characters) because their added weight helps with their 'immovability' of tanking damage and strength. Having a character that's based in any form of agility or fast movements being over weight would be a little much. Also, my Paragon looks like Sean Connery. They have a little bit of 'older' style looks already in place. More would be fine as long as we aren't talking ancient here. If so, they'd have to be magicians. Increased wisdom, but lowered physical attributes. |

I think it would be a great option, its possible that Anet already has this already plained, but won't show or confirm it yet because its something that will make a splash and get people excited.

As I was saying, I agree a bit of extra weight can prove useful with strength based classes. |

Customization was terrible in Guild Wars. The clothing/armor offered to characters along with creation options just made for a very limited process which in an MMO sort of hurts to see almost every character look the same.

Ya know, I'm 5'8" tall and weigh 250lbs. I'm fat. Up until recently, I also smoked a pack of cigarettes a day. I play soccer a couple of times a week (haven't this winter, but I'll be starting again in spring/summer). Ya know, I might not be anywhere near as good as the college kids I play with, but I can school them occasionally and they are almost always surprised by my speed.
So, while I don't think characters should be as fat as me, we need plumper avatars to be available. It is realistic. You can be big and still kick ass (and hike, and, and...). Truth be told, ancient warriors probably didn't look like body builders, they looked like farmers/ranchers. The only problem I see with fat characters is the occasional douchebag who will make one and give him/her some insensitive name and run around asking everyone for a cheeseburger. But if they don't have that option, they'll just find another way to be a douchebag. |

Yeah, old school warriors were prolly sometimes out of shape, that's for sure.
The difference is they weren't fighting on such an epic level (vs. magic and dragons?). Either way, I'm up for as much customization as possible as long as its makes sense. Please, no 400 pound Assassins. That would make me feel like the game was a joke. |

Not all warriors need to be body builders. Last edited by C410V1370; Mar 12, 2010 at 11:38 AM. |

That doesn't really work, because even if he could run a marathon, if he doesn't meet the weight restrictions he's gone.

Most marines aren't body builders either. However, the point is that for a profession that uses their physical abilities it stands to reason they would be in shape. Now I could see your point on classes that aren't physically oriented such as elementalists and mesmers.

It's a huge waste of development time because people don't use these features. Go look at any game with "fat" slider and it doesn't get used unless someone wants to make a joke looking character.
