Default The complete Guild Wars 2 preview by Droniac of Game Drone

Long detail previews, covering almost everything. Not unlike other interviews we have read, but I think its still worth reading if you are really enthusiastic to know more about GW2.

For instant, it speaks about

"And it gets better yet, because players can even choose to permanently remain in The Mists. Characters will gain experience points and rewards for participation in The Mists, which will allow fervent PvPers to ignore the PvE component altogether. Or at least, ignore it once you reach The Mists. The requirements for joining in are still unknown."

and this:
"There are also server-wide benefits to participation in World-PvP, because victory in The Mists provides bonuses for the entire server, ranging from better drop rates to increased energy regeneration."

and this:
"A group of builders from a neighbouring village is called in to repair the bridge, but bandits attack them in order to steal the construction supplies."

one wanders where does the above infos come from? ??

#put on suspicious face#

The same as gw1, as the guildwars1.com FAQ already states, there will again be pvp similar to gw1 (create instant pvp char with pvp gear)... So nothing of a rumor, just copy paste from the official site.

The second has the same source, if pvp remains the same its only more then likely pvp will again give pve bonus (remember how the original uw/fow was handled?).

Last is already all over the internet from anet themselfs, just as the centaur raiding event.

This sounds epic.

Like how HA originally influenced Favor...

But better, because it doesn't restrict anyone from a whole area of the game, it only gives bonuses

Since it mentions you can change realms whenever you want, what stops everyone just jumping to the server with the bonus?

Same what I was thinking. One server intentionally loses, so all can hop to the winning server after the battle? Or will there be a restriction to server traveling after the PvP battles?

No beta test or launch schedule has been announced as of yet, but a 2010 launch seems unlikely. I would hope for maybe a late 2010 beta test, but I would not expect the game to go live until mid-way 2011 at the earliest
This killed me.

No, no, no! This would debalance the gameplay and the economy, and it wouldn't be fair either. How is that, that total geeks, who play 24/7 would exploit this opportunity, farm all the rare stuff, and the normal and casual players - who would need lots of hours to get one - would buy them for loads of money. There's no need for this. I hope they change their minds very soon.

1st: Never seen it before (I think).

2nd: Already stated a few times. World vs World pvp with rewards to the World that wins.

3rd: Already stated quite alot. Its the "Event" system.

Hes basicly combined all the info on GW2 we already had from 2 years ago with the new info and the trailer and then thrown in his own guesses.

Anet said in an interview the other day you would be able to up level in the Mists (1).

They said two years ago that a win by your world may give a small buff or better drops to all players on it (2).

And that third quote is exactly what was stated in PC Gamer two years ago.

I do agree with the release date opinion, Closed beta at late 2010 at earliest. Other information is nice put but doesn't have to be necessarily true, and I wouldn't believe all the statements from 2 years ago because.. they were 2 years ago when Anet just had plans for the game.

Ew, do not want. It's just going to keep people in PVE waiting to do certain things until the boosts start.

One interesting option during character creation will be the option of naming your ancestor. What this does is link your character to a character you had in the original games, which will grant it a number of bonuses; ranging from items to companions; based on the titles, items and pets that you have unlocked in the Hall of Monuments featured in the Guild Wars: Eye of the North expansion pack.
What? So we can't gain these benefits unless we use a character name from Gw1? And it should be account wide right? So it shouldnt matter which character you link too, correct? If that's true, I may be buying a name change later. I don't want a Gw2 Monk named after a Gw1 Ranger <_< Who hosts the future GWAMM character HOM.

The crafting system will be overhauled, likely to be in line with current-day MMORPGs in a generic gathering and crafting fashion, but no details have been announced as yet.
I liked GW1's crafting system. Simplistic. That's just me.

Quote:
Now you’ll be hunting for items for their improved statistics, rather than gathering crafting materials merely to gain a better looking piece of otherwise identical equipment. A great evolution for PvE fans, and of little consequence for PvP fans, who will not be influenced by the introduction of this system.
I want to know more about this. Don't turn this into a equipment based game please.

But, in the interview, they said:

Quote:
It will run on various realms, like most persistent-world MMORPGs, but it will allow players to switch servers freely if they so desire
So lol? Im obviously going to constantly switch to the server with benefits. This seems fail.

Let's hope Anet executes these right

Where is the point in this, since they have already said that you can freely switch between servers. So everyone will just flock to whatever server has got the bonuses at that time.

And didn't they learn from the first time round, tying PvE to PvP was a terrible idea.

I think what it means is that you name your character as normal, but you then get to input the name of one of your GW1 characters to be this characters ancestor.

I see he mentions the game will be split into realms on different servers, is there a source for that information?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Oh man, you guys kill me!

This breaks GW1.
So for this to work in GW2, GW2 can not be anything like GW1.
