Great list Pheonix, im glad you took out those silly comments of yours, keep those to the related threads if you want ... general lists should be such, non biased lists of the discussed professions ... good work !

I brought mine up in my Thief/Engineer thread, check it out AJ. I think I linked to some concepts of mine that you had done versions of too.

Sry. I don't have my eyes everywhere I'm just a human too with just only 2 eyes...

@feather:I'll link it soon
@nevin: I said to you, please make an extra thread for your both ideas, so that each concept has its own thread, then I'll link them up All other links lead you also to their own threads too.
The sense behind this list is, that the links lead you to threads, whre the concepts, and just 1 concept gets special discussed.
if you won't make one, then I'll simple make one soon and copy and paste your stuff into the thread to have 2 single threads about ur two concepts...

I have one major point of consternation with this whole enterprise, which is that it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Laying out general game mechanics should come first, then a proper number of classes crafted around them. Classes cannot be studied in isolation but only as parts of a complete class system (any class by itself is rather incidental, what matters is which parts of the game mechanics it implements and how it interacts with other classes). Picking up classes first and then inventing a number of disjointed game mechanics around them is a really bass ackwards way of doing the design (and it will show in the quality of the final product).

Even if you say that this is just a kind of fan fiction for the MMO crowd then the issue remains that many concepts are rather perpendicular to the GW universe. It is as if there was a Harry Potter fan site where people wrote extensive fanfic about talking pink fluffy bunnies and if pointed out that there aren't any talking bunnies in the HP books the reply would be: 'HP books are about magic and these are magic bunnies and we just like them fluffy and pink'. I fail to see the point but maybe that's just me being too grumpy and old for this stuff as usual.

Don't worry, that makes two of us. I saw this same thing going on in Guild Wars (1) Guru forums and it didn't seem to make much sense there either even if there already was a known character class mechanic...guess I'm just too much of a realist then to accept these kind of wild class ideas.

Some food for thought for those who like to do CCs...

3 elements I deem important in any Class Concept: Role, Play Style, Theme

-Role: What is the purpose of this class? (support, beater, tanker, etc?) However, with the class system of GW, most of the major roles are already taken... which brings to....

-Play Style: Even if a role is shared, if its play style/mechanics is differnt, than it might still be interesting. Like a Warrior and a Earth/Fire Elm... both which can be consider a role of a Tanker/Melee Beater, but differ in how its played (one need to keep track of your adrn, and other your mana and skill upkeep).. and so on... And lastly....

-Theme: or that class's Style/Looks/Lore. Certain things are sexy for all nerd boys, like dual wield, shinning glows, and big boobs (or vampires, since we are in 09). So if a theme is good, would still grant it interestest and make people want to play it.

So would consider how much "points" you got in each as a way to judge if a CC is good or not (or build your CC around it to try to fullfill certain parts of it)

You know this such a waste, considering ArenaNet can not legally take ideas from this site. I mean they can but then they could be easily sued. So they generally avoid threads like this.

I don't mind people creating these classes as fun little thing to do but don't go having any allusions that any of these so-called concepts are under consideration. In fact the more concepts that listed the more likely ArenaNet will deliberately avoid any and all similiarities to any concept class shown. So another words you might just very well stunting ArenaNet from creating a class that you want to see in GW2.

Read The Purpose of Primordus Visions

These forums are places for people to discuss suggestions and concepts to receive feedback from other players, polish suggestions, and modify to the balance of Guild Wars before making an official suggestion on the wiki feedback space.

Yes concept classes probably won't make the cut as initial GW2 classes, but there are always expansions, and there is currently no area to place concept classes built for fun.

So until concept classes get their own section, they will keep coming from the minds of creative and imaginative players.

Phoenix I would like you to make a few adjustments to your list which I have here:
  1. You really should give a link to the general class creation thread to that people know where to go to put the "fun/messing around/throwing ideas out there/not really put to much thought into this class"

    the link is http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/...ead-t1324.html

  2. Second as Malchior Devenholm has stated you should put a disclaimer at the top of the thread like this

DISCLAIMER: These forums are places for people to discuss suggestions and concepts to receive feedback from other players, polish suggestions, and modify to the balance of Guild Wars before making an official suggestion on the wiki feedback space. Please read http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/...ement.php?f=15

  3. And lastly instead of labeling class ideas with "Version 1, Version 2" you should really name all class threads with the author.

    example:

The Alchemist - By Phoenix Tears
    The Alchemist - By actionjack

The reason why I say this is because people read "version 2" as superior because they assume that it is made by the same author and that version 2 had more thought put into it as an improvement over the original version.

That is all.

and don't make up new names for them...seriously. If the author of the thread, named it something, at least keep the thread name the same.

No, you're quite correct, but any old GWG member should understand that the concept of game design is often rather foreign to the ideas crowd. It would be good if some sort of guideline thread was made, creating a standard of post quality that could be monitored within ideas for concept classes.
