I'd argue that if they're both aspects of a greater essence that they are the same entity wearing different faces. The entity may consider one aspect to be a mask while the other is their true form or they may view both aspects equally, but ultimately they are two aspects of the same power.
In Raven's case, the connection to Grenth is clear. Grenth has shown an penchant for trickery as shown in the Wintersday events, while Raven appears to be the go-to for the Norn to access the Underworld. Now, if they are completely seperate entities, they can't both have dominion over the Underworld - either they are aspects of the same being, one is subservient or antagonistic to the other, or Raven's power extends only to the ability to open portals without having any direct power over the Underworld. The others, of course, have much more tentative links to the human gods, especially Bear - it's at least as likely that they're independant of the gods (or at least not directly analagous to individual gods) than the reverse. Still, it is interesting to speculate, especially in light of the clearer connection between Grenth and Raven. |

Perhaps they don't line up perfectly with the same aspects/spheres... there may not be exactly six aspects of this ... well, "alchemy" (who knows, maybe the Asura are right), that each spirit is an embodiment of. There might be dozens of them, and the human gods and norn spirits merely happen to be six each in number, in each case their combined portfolios covering all aspects of the "alchemy".
It's a little bit more boring, though, as this is to all intents and purposes saying the same thing as "they're unrelated". |

I am not denying that the gods rule the domains, but I do doubt that the spirits are subservient. Being unable to open portals to the Underworld points more that Raven has powers in a different area and that he merely creates entrances to other realms. I agree with the thesis that the spirits are not equivalent with the gods, but are also part of the great alchemie.
My theorie is that, there is only one power source able to create life, the Mists or as the Asura call it, the great alchemie. Now some beings have the ability to draw power from the mists. These are the gods, the spirits and maybe the elder dragons. Perhaps all of them where once mortals and they just found a way to gain immortality. so the animal spirits are animals that somehow endet up with godlike powers. the human gods are either humans who became gods (like kormir) or Giganticus Lupicus (maybe some of them ascendet to fight the elder dragons?). And at last the elder dragons, maybe they where all once like glint and kuunavang but ascendet. there for they are all different but draw their power from the same source. But this mostly speculation, and I will maybe proven totally wrong when GW2 is released.
