Default [F] New Guild Rank: The Aspirant

I did not find anything with search, so I started this thread by myself.

In GW 1 you had to pay 100 gold to invite a new member or a guest. The guest invites are good as they are and should stay, but the member invite has some flaws. If you invite a new member it happens that this new member leaves after 1 day or any other short amount of time. So the 100g were just wasted. It's not that much money but it happens quite often and this can be pretty annoying.

So to prevent this GW 2 could introduce a new guild rank: the Aspirant

It is exactly the same as the member but with the difference that it is free to invite but gets kicked automaticly out of the guild after two weeks if neither the leader nor the officers upgrade him to a member.

So the aspirant has enough time to look if he fits into the guild or if he prefers to watch for others guilds, without wasting 100g. The automatic kick is to prevent abuse, because otherwise guilds would just invite aspirants, so they don't have to pay 100g.
But what if the guilds keep kicking and reinviting an aspirant? The same player can only be invited as an aspirant 3 times by the same guild. after that he can only be invited as a member and therefor the guild will have to pay 100g.
And what if there is an aspirant that gets automaticly kicked out of the guild because all the officers and the leader are on vacation? Well this is pretty rare and besides they can just reinvite the aspirant when they are back.

I had this idea before the IncGamers interview that stated that the guild invite will be characterbased. In my opinion this also fits with the characterbased invites so I posted this thread anyway.

EDIT: You can still invite players as members and skip the aspirant part if you know the player you're inviting.
Also upgrading a aspirant will charge you 100g.

So that's it, what is your opinion?

Well I certainly don't see why not... This would probably be great for huge guilds with sprawling alliances.

This would be good for GW1, and good for GW2 assuming we have an invite fee.

one thing guild people over looked regarding the 100g is this, I am guessing the 100g is there to prevent guild from spam-invite any one they see in the game. Think for one second, how annoying it would be, everyday, you log in to your game to find 10,000 invites waiting for you to delete.

That is true but the guild still had to pay 100g to upgrade all those aspirants to members, so I don't think that they would spam that much. Also their could be a filter system: Invites as member are on the top of invite window, invites as aspirant are below, so if you want to join a guild with friends you already know, they invite you as member and you don't even have to read all those aspirant invites. If you don't search for a specific guild you could read the aspirant invites, if you see something that is interesting join it. And if you are not looking for a guild, just ignore the invites or there could be a function like "I don't look for guilds" (similar to the friendlist status) while it's active nobody could send you an invite.

i like the idea, the main reason i never tried my own guild was because of the waste of money when players would leave. this definetley improves it IMO

I don't like the idea of someone getting invited to a guild only to be kicked after so long just because they weren't promoted; that's what the kick feature is for. Suppose the leader and all their officers go afk for a while (believe me it happens a lot) and that's why it's not done; the person wouldn't be in the guild just because someone else wasn't online. I don't think that's fair. If you don't want them, don't invite them, and if you don't like them, kick them.

I'd rather just have a more in depth ranking system... I always found the whole Member/Officer/Leader listings as lacking. If we had more, then that would give me a reason to actually care about being in the Guild...

First of, I mentioned that problem already:

Also I never saw a PvE or PvP guild that invites members and than is completly inactive for the next 2 weeks. If that is the case I would leave anyway.

An idea, a guild invite that is paid for by an inviter/officer would be refunded back to that person should that invitee decide to leave on their own accord. No refund would be distributed should that person be kicked. If the officer is no longer a member of guild, then the refund would go to the guild leader. Just a thought, but it could work. An after thought, the leaving member would have to pay the invite fee to leave.
