What does THAT mean? That GW2 Beta will be early next year? Or that they need a year or promotion before GW2 comes out....
yes, middle of page 3 or 4 and the bottom of page 5 of this thread.

Well official no, but on page one it says:
19. Found a picture of a warrior/ranger looking female with a beautiful rapier. The armor seems to be plate, but she's also wearing a nice hood and cloak. <- from the artbook

Ah...didn't see that. Thanks/ awesome! That rapier is, indeed, beautiful.

I did, a few pages back

Basically, I think GW2 will come out roughly a year from when the trailer was first shown. Let's look at the GW1 promo timeline

May 2004 - E3 for Everyone - essentially GW "unveiling" to the world in a playable online demo. The an October event, and the weekend preorder betas Nov-April. The game is released 11 months after E3fE.

I see the trailer being released as a parallel event to the E3 event, its first real unveiling of how it would look and feel. Anet stated beta testing would occur a lot closer to release then with GW1 - so that's why its a trailer and not some demo. I think beta itself is at least 8 months out.

Oh yes, number one reason I created a Mesmer as my second character.

(Never understood why a rapier skin was not included in the game....)

One of the best pictures in the game. However, I missed that casters couldn't use melee weapons. I mean they should have fought with it like with staves or wands, but not with the mastery of a Warrior. I really hope this will be implemented in the game.

Now I really hope that the open beta would start in 28 April 2010, and the game would be released in summer (20 August, for example).

Could somebody get these questions to one of our "representatives" at PAX? So ArenaNet could give some kind of answers for these mysteries, that has bugged me all the time.

It's in the art book coverage on p1 of this fine thread:

"17. There is a Sylvari necromancer named Trahearne. Explaining the Sylvari take on necromancy, death is just part of the life cycle, so its not considered dark or evil, just a special part of life."

I want an April 28th closed beta for all 5 year players xD

btw, they couldn't make the mesmer with the rapier in GW1 for the same reason they didn't have guns in GW1, rapiers where way after traditional swords.

Thanks a lot for these updates Inde. Man I really wanna see pics of all this talk about armor...And I guess the sylvari things make sense now. We now know that somehow they are classified by seasons, and that there are sort a sort of "meaner" sylvari, like the kind we saw in concept art. I'm betting that evil sylvari people speculated as being a male sylvari is indeed one, but also part of the court.
