if we have scythes like those im definately going to make a dervish then. nice find.
i don't mind the idea of guns too much. i'm sure they'll keep it balanced(hopefully). Last edited by turbo234; Aug 24, 2009 at 12:19 AM. Reason: sean connery said so |

Those guns look so damn pretty! I wants for sure. However as mentioned he stopped working for Anet 2007? Meh, I hope these guns still appear in game!

It's possible that he hasn't updated his resume page in awhile. It's also possible that all this concept art was made in 2007 (which is when ANet announced GW2).

They sure got the ideas for firearms quick then (or at least, he might have). Also, if this concept art is real, it looks like there might be a gunner profession that any race can be a part of, looking at the different styles of guns anyway. I can only hope that for norns, they can be in bestial form while having a gun. Polar bears with guns ftw.

Scythe designs are pretty fail ... they do not even look like a usable weapons.
Guns, on the other hand, hmm, sweet, especially fish one! could be reason to roll gun-user! Hmm, these weapons are all one-hand flintrocks. Gun/Shield combo? |

I loved the bullet on a string on that axe-pistol in the second image. If you ever run out of ammo, it might be time to use "My Last Bullet," which if anime is to be believed, is the mini-nuke. XD

Epicly good find! Here, have some +rep.
Scythes are looking a bit frail indeed. If those are scythes. Last edited by Arduin; Aug 24, 2009 at 02:24 AM. |

We could say that these weapons were made of magically-strong materials, or that they're not made to be swung in the traditional manner, but the fact is, THIS IS A FANTASY GAME. Please leave any notions of Einstein-ian physics at the door. Heck, we're not even sure these are actual in-game art designs. *Inserts appropriate LOLcats image here.* "Everytime someone tries to use real-world physics in a fantasy game, God kills a kitten. The only problem I have with guns is that in a game like Guild Wars 2 which will have a camera system akin to GW1 as in behind/free-distance is that actual targeting will not be done and will most likely be like Archery in GW1.
Hmm, come to think of it, I don't recall seeing any bows and such in my viewings of the GW2 trailer (though I may have just missed it), and this is probably just going to replace that aspect of gameplay. If that's the case I have no real problem with 'guns' (as in projectile weapons) since, as the trailer says, new technologies and magic have been sought after and acquired. |

Fact is that Scythes do not really look like scythes or like weapons. They simply look like magic staves or like plastic toys. At best they can pass as halberds. |

I don't believe zwei2stein is talking about how the scythes don't look realistic. I think he's talking about they look pretty bad. People in PvE (and PvP, too) are going to want nice looking weapons, not weapons that look like those scythes. It has nothing to do with real life really, it has to do with good looking skins.
