I'm betting late 2010, early 2011. If I were Anet, I'd try for a Christmas release and if I couldn't make that date, I'd consider waiting until April as the original GW was released in April. This might result in an extended beta.

That's some depressing guessing, Muan, especially since, apparently, the game's this far along already.
I'm guessing 3rd Q 2010. Screw Christmas. Rofl. |

3rd/4th quarter 2010. Christmas release is overrated.
On top of that, beta would be expected relatively(a quarter after) soon after gameplay announcements I would imagine. |

Q3 2010.
Though if they surprised us with an april 28th 2010 release I wouldn't be completely shocked, but I would be completely excited. |

Heck, I would be completely shocked. I mean, we'll probably start seeing gameplay info january/february,... If the game would release in april, where does that leave the Beta? I mean, come on, march? x'D

Last news I heard suggested 2010-2011 as a possible release date. I'm just guessing the median. Also, don't forget, that trailer showed no combat and relatively few areas. It showed maybe one enemy monster (assuming the Nagas are unfriendly monsters). Programing enemy AI and balancing the gameplay elements might still take a long while. They also commented that changes are still being made to the map and that half of the world is underwater. They showed us one underwater scene and no underwater gameplay. The game is playable to some extent and pretty in certain areas. Some equipment has been designed. That's all we saw. A late summer beta would make sense for a Christmas release and a winter beta might make sense for an April 2011 release.

Well this is my logic for the April 28 2010 release. Not saying it's going to happpen.
In theory: GW1: GW1 info was available at much earlier stages than GW2 GW1 had a world open beta later in the year before the release GW1 had BWE (beta weekend events) on the months before april 28 on the year of release After that: Only one BWE/beta per chapter, very close to release They wouldn't announce the specifics until it was pretty much ready for play for every chapter GW2: Waited till the game looked good and was playable to release info Acts more like a new chapter market-timing-wise because GW already has a critical community Could mimic the GW1 monthly BWE model while excluding the World Preview Event model Though I wouldn't bet any money on it, I wouldn't be taken completely off guard. |

Personally, I think 2010 is still too early. Maybe late (Nov/Dec) '10 is possible, but I doubt it.
Earliest I see a beta/release, is mid '10 and late '10. Latest beta/release: early '11/April '11. My money is on the latest I see. But I would love to be wrong and it coming out earlier.
