Default IGN | Guild Wars 2 Preview

This interview is with Eric Flannum.

http://pc.ign.com/articles/102/1022360p1.html

Quote:
There will also be no separation of PvP and so-called "roleplaying" characters.
Quote:
Guild Wars 2 is going to be a fully persistent world.
More about world-vs-world:
Quote:
Eric describes this as a more casual type of PvP with big open-world maps featuring castle sieges, siege weaponry and objectives for both solo players and big groups of like a hundred people.
You can gain exp. via world-vs-world PvP, but you cannot gain exp. through competitive PvP (Guild Wars 1 PvP).

Guns:
Quote:
[...] you will see guns in the game, although they will be old-fashioned muskets rather than machine guns and such.
Humans:
Quote:
They are now clustered around the city of Divinity's Reach and are ruled by a Queen, a descendant of the last queen of Kryta, who is at times in conflict with the elected ministers of parliament.
Norn:
Quote:
They worship four animal spirits – the bear, the raven, the wolf and the snow leopard – and they are able to shapeshift into these animals.
There is no new info about the Charr and Sylvari.

Each race starts in a unique city. The human starting area is Divinity's Reach. The Asura --> Rata Sum.

Quote:
[...] player housing isn't something the developers are ready to discuss.
They will "probably" release info about professions/ gameplay early next year.

Lots of good information in here, and it clarifies a few things. I'd recommend reading the whole article though.

So this dudes a Norn in Raven form?

This dude must be a member of the evil Sylvari known as the Nightmare Court.

Possibly. (I think it is a Raven Form norn.)

I wish it was a bit more Q&A-ish, with direct quotes from Flannum, but you take what you can get. Anet needs to give an interview to one of the big kahuna's at gw2guru Like, how directly did Flannum say the Sylvari form is caused by the fact a human planted the tree?

Well, the minster part clears up something that can be partially read in one of the images that-should-not-be-mentioned.

I'm hoping the "animal" part is literal, as in, the Norn animal forms resemble the animals more than a humanoid form. That would be cool, imo.

Again, good tidbits. A lot of information is making its way to the surface.

I suspect, since 4 classes is emerging as a common occurace, I suspect the classes will be similar to the charr clans:

tech based
melee based
caster based
scout based

The Charr will also be a playable race. These big cat-like people were the main bad guys in GW
WTF? Did they even play the game, charr are the main bad guys? I would say there are among the lowest in terms of significant enemies.

Mursaat and undead trump them in prophecy
They don't show up in Factions, we fight shiro
They don't show up in Nightfall, we fight Abbadon.
They show up in GWEN, but are a minor enemy compared to the central destroyers.

I'm trying to continue reading, but a lot of their credibility has been destroyed.

You say this, but take note that none of the other aforementioned races in your post, besides the Charr, have appeared as major antagonists in more than one installment. Charr where key in both Prophecies and Eye of the North. I IGN is actually fairly spot-on in that regard.

Sounds very, very very cool! But I guess this means no polar bear.. unless you can change the bear's colour.
