Default Answered: Instruments?

Based on the IGN interview GW2 will have intruments.

"There will also be activities that aren't as focused on combat, such as a set of instruments that players can use."

Are these intruments going to be something like the lord of the rings online instruments where actual music is going to be played or is it going to be more like the GW1 /guitar thing except theres an actual guitar rather than an imaginary one.

Thanks

yeah, it won't be instruments that u can carry around. it is an activity located in divinity's reach that allows you to play music from a set selection for the entire city to hear.

Sadly, no. Thats what i thought at first too.

Q: How developed is the player-created music system you mentioned, and how far will we be able to go with it?

John:I believe that this question is in reference to the One-Man Band that we have in Divinity’s Reach, the human capital. The One-Man Band isn’t a system for players to create their own music per se – it’s more like a giant festive jukebox. Players can select songs from it and have them playing within the square, and it’s pretty entertaining to watch. I’m not sure how musical instruments that large are able to shoot out that much confetti, but I’m happy that they do, because it’s a great bit of ambiance to absorb while you’re walking through Divinity’s crowded streets.

As for a system of generating music, it isn’t something that we’ve discussed, and I’m not sure that you’ll be seeing it in Guild Wars 2. The fact that I would personally use it to spam people with “The Final Countdown” might have something to do with that.

It's a jukebox. It comes pre-loaded with a variety of tunes.

I can't possibly be the only one who thinks this is a bad idea. Arguing over the radio station in a car with two other people is bad enough.

However, all of the emotes used in the vids have had sound attached so don't be surprised to see /guitar /violin /drums /flute make a comeback with sounds attached. What would be cool would be the sounds vary from profession to profession much like the GW1 animation on dancing.

I would imagine the sounds would travel as far as earshot.
