I saw this on gamespot the other day. I'm not that interested because bethseda taking over the series kinda killed it for me and I've heard people say that FO3 wasn't that great.

I am thinking of buying Fallout 1 and maybe 2 on steam.. is it worth it? I can't run fallout 3 but I hear fans of the series liked the earlier ones better so I was wondering. A response sometime today would be nice.
I'd get Fallout 3 if I had a Ps3..not for PC..because I like shooters/shooter-type games on consoles. |

That actually looks pretty interesting. Fallout 3 is pretty great, even though I haven't actually gotten around to finishing the main game yet.

And the engine...for **** sake can't they make a game that DOESN'T crash to desktop every once in a while??? Super duper annoying since Morrowind. |

FO3 was actually pretty awesome, but it depends a lot on your perspective. Personally, I loved it.

I liked FO3, just because of the feeling behind it, had a few problems, but overall, not that bad for a Bethseda game, and did not screw up the franchise as badly as I thought it would.
However, I don't understand why people are bringing that up as an argument against New Vegas, since this one is not being made by Bethseda, but rather Obsidian of Planescape Torment/KotOR2/NWN2MOB fame, all of which are hailed as some of "the best RPGs ever, or would have been, if they had more funding", and well, since Bethseda is funding Obsidian, well..... Can't wait honestly >.> |

It's a pity my only introduction to Obsidian has been through NWN2 - I started to think it would have turned out better if someone else gave them the engine and they just did the content. Not as iffy as Bethesda has been known to be, though.

Imo, FO3 was one of the best RPG's that I ever played. I didn't play FO1/2, though, so I'm not sure if Bethesda screwed up that bad.
Looking forward to New Vegas and FO4

Obsidian made Kotor2, which was buggy, terribly written, unimmersive, had ohfckthis-long loading screens, and generally lacked anything that made its predecessor good.
So why would I purchase another product from them? FO3 is amazing by the way. Last edited by Snow Bunny; Feb 17, 2010 at 07:13 PM. |

To be fair you can't really blame them for the mess that was KOTOR 2. It was pretty much EA's fault for rushing the game out in time for x-mas.

I've seen Fallout: New Vegas sitting on IGN main page for weeks, but ignored it since I thought it was just another expansion of Fallout 3. The name sort of put me off I guess.

FO3 does fall flat on quite a number of issues - dodgy game engine that will randomly crash for no reason, having to spend ages to tweak with mods if you want to use any of them, no "escalation" of story and of "environment".. basically it suffer's a lot of the technical and gameplay drawbacks that Oblivion did/does (which is no surprise as it uses the same game engine..) One thing that it does do better, and it's also one thing that can make it painful, is the ability to expand the game with player made mods. These mods can really make the game a whole lot better than standard (better armor, weapons, quest's, etc). Same as with Oblivion - but then again, pretty sad that to fix and improve a lot of issue's that should have been fixed b4 shipping... you have to install player made mods. *shrugs* Still, I have enjoyed FO3.. at least what I've played. I've finished FO1 & 2 multiple times, never finished FO3.. if that means anything. |

I liked KotOR 2, possibly more than KotOR 1 (because KotOR 2 had annoying bastila only in one cutscene while in Kotor 1 you had to drag her through the game >_>)
