I really love the way they are taking this game. It seems as though each race is going to have its own sub categories as well as the class (profession for GW1 players). This is going to mean many varieties of player types. I wonder if GW2 will still allow free and instantaneous change of profession/talents. If not... I am going to be putting in a LOT of hours to have one of each class. All of the races so far sound awesome.

I like that they seem to be focusing more on your characters personal story this time around as well as the main epic story.
Agreed that it's a good interview. |

Well that was a lot more interesting then most of the other interviews out there... aaahhhh 20 variations! PPPLLEEEAAASSSEEE let there be unlimited character slots *crosses fingers* (doubt it though... money talks)

20 variations? More like 120 variations out there... (Race/Racial Division/Profession). If GW2 dual professions like GW1, then there will be 600 Variations! Which is 10 times more then the Orignal Guild Wars: Prophicies (60).

From what I understood each race will have 4 (Maybe more racial attributes)
Sylvari: [Seasons] Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter Charr: [Legions] Iron, Blood, Ash, Flame (?) Asura: [Krewes] Respective Krewes Norn: [Totems] Bear, Snow Leopard, Raven, Wolf Human: [Kingdom?] Ascalonian, Krytan ... Makes sense to me anyway. It's very nice, when I first heard of racial attributes I thought how much diversity it would create having 5 different races now with their own attributes, and now it seems they will cut it down into the races themselves.

Racial abilities don't seem to directly tie to a skill per say. They seem to be a lot more like how Bioware has describe Origin stories in Dragon Age. Each affiliation or whatever renders a different story aspect. They add possibly to the abilities, but I like how they tie them into the story more. Means more re playability.

Then you'll have maybe some sort of thing that differentiates you via the racial affiliation. Raven Norn probably have a different storyline than a Bear Norn. Which sounds cool, encourages me to visit and see how the various subgroups see the story overall! |

Finally an interview with good questions that aren't totally repeats of every other interview.
Bit sad that the norn forms will indeed be your standard humanoid with fur, claws and animal head. I was really hoping to be able to run around as a giant wolf on all fours. All these wolfman style wercreatures have gotten rather boring and over used.I wonder where the original ice seas the Kodan are - in the northwestern "inland" sea or further north - and they will have had to sail quite a ways to the west to loop back down if the bays they are in now are those like at Droknar's and Port Sledge. Suggests to me even more the Tyria map will have some significant changes. I'm guessing Black Citadel is the new name of the Iron Citadel. A rather uninspired name, imo. |

The sylvari as the so called "elfs" are called. Are based on the faeries of irish myths, and so have drawn a great part of inspiration from them. What do you think was here first ? WoW or the book of lenister/book of invasions? Last edited by Whisper; Oct 06, 2009 at 01:43 PM. |

But seriously. Anet already said they don't want to copy Wow cause that's stupid and still there are lots of threads with wow-like ideas and posts with 'oh, isn't it like wow?' kind of bs. But I'm not saying that copying great working things from WoW is bad (we all want AH don't we?). Good to have info on flying at last. I suppose it rules out flying mounts too. Who is saying that the Norn forms will have any difference other than appearance and story line? Just because GW1 Norn skills were different for each transformation (even though you didn't really transform) doesn't mean that they will have the same effect in GW2. For all anyone knows you'll have Similar skills for all forms reguardless of the form you chose. Same for the Asuran Golems. Your college may dictate the look and story of your golem but the skills your golem has (or whatever purpose it ultimatly serves) may not change from college to college.
It would be interesting if it did make a difference but we have no inkling of evidence that supports that kind of claim at this time. |
