Default Onlinewelten interview part 2

The second part of the interview is up!:

German: http://www.onlinewelten.com/games/ar...erview-teil-2/
English: http://www.onlinewelten.com/games/ar...view-teil-2/4/

- Zhaitan is the focus in the initial release of GW2(confirmation)
- No hierarchy among the dragons
- Cantha and Elona wont be explorable in the first release
- All races can play together
- Weather effects confirmed
- the creature at the end of the trailer is indeed a member of the flame legion(confirmation), player skills will be as flashy as his
- almost all dungeons will feature an underwater part, confirming the statement of a flued transition between water and land
- consumable needed for underwater exploration, but is easy to obtain
- zone are larger than maps of the original GW
- 1 dwarf is active in tyria, the others are a mere legend
- possible confirmation of the "Warrior"-proffesion("while still allowing an asura warrior to be just as effective as a norn warrior.")
- Sylvari can't talk via telepathy, but can feel the emotions of other sylvari
- the event system originates from Utopia
- Chronomancers wont be featured in GW2

It also seems that cons will be in GW2...

Hmm, Weather system sounds lovely...

"Eric Flannum: Tyria in Guild Wars 2 covers a significantly larger area than in Guild Wars, and at the same time contains much more playable space in each area. The world of Guild Wars 2 will not only be by the largest world we’ve created thus far, but will also be much more densely packed with interesting things to do and see. As far as distances between locations go, our maps are much larger than they were in the original Guild Wars, and players will be able to travel a long distance between zone boundaries."

This is indeed a lovely piece of our 'GW2' puzzle!..

some interesting news, mostly about the world and the races.. looking forward to the next part of the interview

** "There is one dwarf active in Tyria, and the players can interact with him, but the others have not been heard from in generations" .. wtf, only 1? were are the others?

"Onlinewelten: Are specific skills or techniques a prerequisite to play underwater?

Eric Flannum: There is a consumable item that allows players to breathe underwater. It lasts a long period of time and is very easy to acquire. We did this because we wanted underwater exploration to be a very easy, accessible option for all players. "

Not surprising.

Also confirmed that the Chronomaster is not going to be one of the professions in Guild Wars 2.

Some more juicy tidbits revealed again. Nice to see they are letting more and more details be known.

No restrictions on professions based on race, Asura warrior as effective as a Norn warrior.
Been stated previously, but I'm glad they have affirmed this once more.

A consumable item allows players to breathe underwater.
Seems likely other consumables will be in the game. This could be concerning, reintroducing something like consets will mean they'll probably have to take them into consideration for balancing content.
Maps are much larger than they were in the original Guild Wars, and players will be able to travel a long distance between zone boundaries.
Looks like it won't be a continuous world, (been mentioned elsewhere in similar terms). This doesn't bother me much. Likely will make their server load balancing easier to deal with.

That's not a totally true statement, they're talking about Zone "Borders"which could also mean that the world will be one big persistant world with fluent borders. They were just using the world Maps because that word was in the question onlinewelten used themselves.

Woop!
-Basically : GW2 will get Cantha and Elona on a later date. (new releases, expansions, unknown but sweet )
-Consumable item for underwater breathing. not surprising, but an efficient way to avoid weak things like 'yes, we learned to breathe underwater... cause of eh.... radiation!'

and of course : Weather! please make there be thunderstorms

all in all i think the Onlinewelten interview (part I en II merged) is the best and most pleasant to read of all interview's so far

Welten, I <3 you all!

The humans still worship their Six Gods with devotion, despite the fact that the gods no longer take an active hand in the destiny of Tyria. Have they truly left? Are they watching, but choosing not to directly answer prayers? These are questions that the people of Divinity’s Reach struggle with on a daily basis. Only the gods themselves know the true answer -- to their questions, and yours.
Oooh! Now there's a paragraph to make you wonder...

Weather effects? Seamless transition between land/water? Day/night circle? *claps*

EDIT: @Daeus first off, your avatar is l33t
Remember consets didn't break PvE, this did, so I'm not that worried, besides it might just be like a ID kit or Sav Kit.

So.. no unlimited underwater exploration? For the sights of it , we gotta collect a consumable to extend our 'consumable'. :/

Yes, that might well be the case. We'll have to wait and see, though it doesn't bother me much either way as long as you don't get the feel that you are bumping into invisible walls all the time.

As long as it's not like CoH/Champions online, where you would SEE the map barrier(laser fence), I'm sure it will be good

That wasn't my point :P We all were expecting something that would give us permanently and unlimited access to the underwater part, only now they tell us that somehow, it will be limited.

Meh, but you're right. Not arguing with it (;

People are really going to have to get over the whole, "OMG a loading screen, this isn't a persistent world, this isn't even an MMO."

Basically, with technology at the point it is right now, you have 2 choices. Terrible graphics with no loading. Or good to semi-good graphics and have loading. Honestly, as long as the loading only takes a few seconds and the zones last at least 10 minutes in each direction, I don't care.

Especially for a F2P MMO. You can't expect them to run a server on such a large scale for a F2P. I am sorry, maybe in another 5-10 years.

Besides, better to get over it now and maybe be surprised if it is not a loaded zoned world. Instead of thinking it is and be disappointed that it is not.
