Default PvP - Would you guys like to see the fame rank system in GW2?

As we all know the fame rank system in GW1 caused a lot of heated debate. I know we do not have any firm details yet on how PvP will work but would you like to see an equivalent fame system back for GW2? Would you like a rank system but have it slightly reworked or have it removed entirely.

Please please don't start any flames wars about this. This is purely personal opinion. We all know that people felt strongly for and against the system but I am curious if people would like to see some form of rank system back.

Hi I'm R11 and would like to not see fame ranks in GW2 (but I would like to see a HA-like, PUG PvP running tournament).

There should be some reward to winning PvP.

There will be ranking

Quote:
Do you intend to make PvP a strong enough game on its own for it to be viewed as a competitive game (E-sport)?

Jon Peters: We’re building our PvP from the ground up as a separate experience. Players will take a character to PvP to retain their name, race, and profession. After that, they will be limited by skill alone. After that, we’ve taken a lot of cues from the first-person shooter genre, to make Guild Wars 2 feel more like an E-sport. Public games will be hot-joinable. We will track player statistics, generate rankings to let players see how they compare to their peers, and hold a variety of tournaments, both large and small, to let the most competitive players duke it out for the bragging rights to be called the best Guild Wars 2 players in the world.

teehee! , well that's good, ...for the pro's but people like me who played for 3 and not 4 years would probably want to see a random system for things like HA as well since we can't get in there. ^_^

I would not like to see a similar system to return, and i hope the stated stats system will not cause the same result as the ranking system did in GW1...

There can be rewards without titles and emotes. For one if the reward of just winning on its own isn't enough for you, I think you should find something else that you actually enjoy doing to spend your time on. Secondly I think what they do with cape trims in the mAT and the RP's is a great reward system and is probably the only reward that should be carried over into GW2.

I would prefer something other than an automated monthly tournament though. I'd rather have seasons and then a large tournament at the end of that season opposed to a tournament every month.

I still did prefer when winning the Hall of Heroes allowed your country access to the UW or the FoW, but maybe that was just me. That was a kind of reward for pvping at the time.

As for a fame system, no thank you.

As long as the "rank" can go down as well as up, then sure; e.g. an ELO system.

I don't want to see progress bars that can only go up.

Actually, I'm gonna go and guess that GW stats are largely dependend on the quality of the teams you play with. Bad players with good teams will probably end up with better stats then good players that run around with bad teams. Everyone being afraid of rank discrimination should be very, very wary of this. Getting more stats will only increase the amount of selection that goes on with pugs. What good player would go out and get a random team when that will **** up his stats?

Anyway, let's hope Anet works with different leagues even for casual pvp or something...

Since they are allowing player-created tournaments, I believe it's safe to say each level of player will have some area to grow.

they should force pve players into tournaments.. like your out in the middle of the woods fighting frogs, then you get jumped by am fah who swam in from cantha.. they take you and your carebear buddy to the arena and release the booty bandit pvp players on them

if they survive.. they get a rousing applause from the stands and roses thrown on them.. if they lose the crowd goes ballistic and throws tamatoes on the bodies and then they get temp banned for 10 minutes

this would promote pvp
