Angel McCoy has returned to give another preview of the upcoming Flame and Frost content that will be dropping towards the end of March. She makes note that the January and February updates were preludes, and that the next update will kick off the main story arc. There are also plans to bolster the storytelling aspect within Flame and Frost by adding characters, both new and old, into the mix. While avoiding spoilers, three new characters have been teased. A norn, a charr, and a sassy new villain that becomes "your personal nemesis". Further details remain under tight lock-down, so you'll have just have to wait and find out yourself next month!

These first couple months of teaser content have allowed us to ramp up to make the long-term Living Story an even fuller and more satisfying experience for you all. As designers have come off other projects and joined us, we’ve increased the amount of content we’ll be delivering, starting at the end of March.

Kinda bummed it's non voiced conversations but idk what I expected.

I do hope somewhere down the line we do get to have some personal story missions inside the living story itself. (E.G P3 or 4 of Flame and Frost could have a small, maybe 5 mission arc that is personal and allows for some choices.)

the tight lock system is starting to wear off. people want to know what's in front of them so that they can plan their time.
One thing was keeping GW2's release date under suspense, but being mysterious on every aspect is annoying and tells me that the story isn't even developed yet so they don't have any real info yet to share. That's why they're taking so long with the "Prelude", a two month "activity"

With the February release, we’re further advancing the Flame and Frost storyline in fun ways, but we still consider this to be teaser content. You’ll get to experience saving homesteaders and ranchers in a more direct way, no longer just as volunteers, but becoming actual defenders of the residents of the Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau.

lol okay, arenanet. whatever you say.

Sounds good. I'm looking forward to finding out more about this 'personal nemesis'. Up to this point I am already very happy with the little money spent on the game. Would be interesting to see how the rest of the content unfolds.

To be fair, a game's story can often change throughout development.

Now if only ANet would hire some decent story writers...

I'm surprised they haven't been making use of personal story steps specifically for the reason of avoiding temporal paradoxes and what not. I suppose they don't want to do anything that would exclude those who aren't finished yet, but this long after release, people who care about the story will have finish it. Sure someone who just joined and hasn't had time will miss out on the personal story bit of the event, but they missed out on the past events already as well, it's just a matter of making a realistic cut off line. They can't be afraid to use such things for ever, it's just going to detract from the overall experience. Excluding key figures from the world over this is just awkward.

3rd :) Haha, Trahearne is such a dull figure. Hand over Caladbolg, leaf boy, let me take over the reins as the true hero.

As for Living Story and the topic at hand; given it's a month between each release, the developments in this story are just so painfully slow and unrewarding, it fails so badly in the MMO medium as a way to deliver a story. I'd say it's probably better if they withheld the entire story and dropped it in one go so people could play it through at their own pace. I'm not sure what speed/progress the story will be dripped to us players either, but killing a bunch of mobs and picking up some mementos/lost objects is not a lot of story content to fill an entire month.

Looking forward to seeing the story unfold.
This alliance between Dredge and Flame Legion is worrying to say the least...

This so much! I actually have the feeling they use the living story to hide their terrible writers. They said they expanded the team to get more "content" out. Why not hire some actually good story writers to bring not more but good content out (which in the long run is far far more content you like to play)?

I trust ANet has good writers that's not the issue and this will be a fun Living Story, but instead of having 2 months of Prelude they shouldn't have put out anything from the story. A good Prelude would be a 2-week long before the plot starts.
This will be a good story I don't doubt that, or the ability to deliver a quality content/game it's time that takes it. March won't be ass exciting as they're mentioning it will be. You'll probably just see the face of the enemy and they'll say: "Now the real battle starts in April" this is just to get to know your enemies... o.0

I consider the living story as something that's happening while I am doing other things. I am not looking forward to it as content I can play actively, more as making the world a bit more intriguing, step by step.

Two months of prelude is more realistic and gives casuals a chance to experience the new content at their pace.

Real world events of a world magnitude seldom happen out of the blue. And since we are the heroes of the world in close contact with every major leader we probably wouldn't be left out of the info loop.

All the it's kind of neat getting large doses of content without forking over money. And having that content feel like it was a part of the game design/direction from the beginning is really neat.

My personal nemesis is that little green star on the upper right corner of my screen constantly reminding me I can't finish the personal story unless I make friends

Keeping my expectations low for now. I believe it's totally awesome when I see it.
The problem here is not that it's just a teaser... but that it barely teases anything interesting. The Flame Legion and Dredge are collaborating, but... that doesn't sound too interesting so far. I'm at least slightly interested in what the consortium is up to, mostly because I'd like Southsun Cove to get a bit more developed.

Right now it just looks like Flame Legion and Dredge are fighting together against their mutual enemies... I don't know. I would like to be interested and the concept sounds intriguing, but there just isn't anything there yet.

That part of the story mode is very much PUGable, just ask around in either LA or in Cursed Shore, or have you tried gw2lfg?

I haven't really explored my options, no. I'm a bit burned from trying to PUG in other games. Always a nervous wreck about my own (in)abilities too.

They used to have some if you look back to gw1. But they either lost them, fired them or punish them with sticks to write bad stories for gw2. o.O
