Coming up this Tuesday, the Dragon Bash festivities continue with the Effigy Lighting Ceremony; a new single-player instance appropriately named Memories on the Pyre. Several races across Tyria will gather to set fire to effigies as a tribute to those who have fallen to the dragons as well as reinforce their desire to fight them. So far, the confirmed guest-list includes a kodan, hylek, and an asura named Izurri, but more are sure to tag along for the event. It's also noted that the ceremony will introduce the next phase of the Dragon Bash storyline, so you'll definitely want to keep your eyes peeled on that front!

These representatives and more have gathered in Lion’s Arch to pay tribute to those who have fallen and to strengthen their resolve to not live in fear of the dragons, to unite to bring them down. Magnus the Bloody-handed will be around to crack jokes, and Captains “Bonny” Anne Reid, Tokk, and Theo Ashford will pump up the crowd for the ceremonial lighting.

Because people will whine like mad if they are forced to group, which have been seen with every single multiplayer aspect in this game.

Another thing to keep in mind is that it most likely won't end with this, based on the information we have.
The story achievements all seems to take place AFTER the effigy lighting ceremony for one.

I blame the travesty of the Personal Story. Last step requiring a 5 man group? Yeah. People got a little upset and paranoid with that.

This will be up until the next major update, which can be assumed will be around July 2nd.

Oh noes I have to play with 5 people in this game! I hate this so they should change this multi-player game to a single-player one!

We're talking about a multi-player element in a game with a non-existent LFG tool. We're also talking about a multi-player element in a game that will take most players around 50+ hours of single player to reach it. Not only that, but the story itself is completely optional and it demands that players jump through hoops to follow it. And to make it worse, the story is pretty much universally disliked.
Also, what's the reward for repeating this multi-player element?

EDIT:
What I was going at is that given the restrictions of the system, it's insane to blame the players for the sad state of this system. Or can't you see the issue with the fact that "if you don't like it, don't do it" is your advice of choice for content that can only be played if you have enough players in your party?
Are we still dealing with a system that is sustainable less than a year after release?

Hmm?
I am quite sure there have been a LFG tool in the game since beta. A bad one yes, but there have been one nonetheless.
You are also making a rather big mistake in thinking that people will do nothing but the personal story at first and therefore not access any of the dungeons or such before the end. That is a rather faulty logic.

Is it so hard to be social and ask some friends/guildies/be social in LA?

Yes but every player needs to do it so I don't understand what you mean with this?
Not only that, but the story itself is completely optional and it demands that players jump through hoops to follow it.
Exactly, it's optional, if you don't like it there is no reason to do it.
And to make it worse, the story is pretty much universally disliked.
Also, what's the reward for repeating this multi-player element?
Nothing special, so if you don't like it there really is no reason to do it (and thus whine about it)

You mean the sequel of a the ultra popular CORPG that gave us the opportunity to chose whether or not we group up to tackle it's content and gave us every right tools to do what we want and how we want shouldn't have those tools and force everyone to tackle content with people you probably don't know and won't ever meet again, even if we don't want to?

Oh Giles you're so funny. You make me smile. :)

Make it both so those who want to be alone, can, and those who want multiple people, can as well.

But make the rewards for grouped versions worth it.

Which would of course make people shout about being forced to group in order to get the better rewards.

Yea I remember the days when henchman were sufficient to complete the 3 ring of fire missions :) /sarcasm
If you truly played GW you would know henchman were useless from ascension onwards and people were 'forced' to group up with other players.

Mhahaha! Not only I did Thunderhead Keep with henchmen while the rest of them were still struggling finding groups and failing miserably, but the rest of the game soon followed. I suppose that's because people were still learning the game back then. That or because next to nobody used Monks.

Heroes were just an improvement to tools the game had since launch. I had options and did the best I could with them. In the Secrets of Southsun Cove they gave us options by allowing us to solo Cannach. I can hope that trend continues, but until then, I'll encourage people to step up and complain.

I'm ready to quit. The RNG for weapon skins is ridiculous. I'm all for hard to get weapons, but random cool ones that people might really want? Really leaves a bad taste A.Net.. I'll probably quick but keep my ears peeled if they change this gross technique. A game that is so depended on looks especially end game, should have more ways of getting the skins they want. Attached to achievements or whatever.

I just think this one thing is really ruining the game. Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but I doubt it.

At this stage of the game, and I'm assuming if you read this forum you know why, GW2 is casual only.

People who complain, safe a few exceptions, do it out of passion for the games potential, and frustration by seeing it go down this path.

It is a shame what is happening, and you have to get out to see the big picture.

This game would be perfect if it was actually growing: GROWING in size, diversity and polish!!!

..... Not with these invisible increments, only noticeable on the gem store and L.A. fireworks.

Like fanboys will say, just don't play it, it's p2p bla bla "casual-player-cliche-sentence" bla bla "casual-player-cliche-sentence" bla bla.... Thing is, if we all leave, who is going to play with you?
