I wonder if the achievement points will be used as a currency or will there be an NPC similar to the Hall of Monuments one that provides all the rewards available at your Achievement point level...

I highly doubt it:

The BIGGER issue that many achievements needs an overhaul on how many points are awarded for completion. I mean 5 pts for equiping a legendary??? Many other similar examples exist and now with the introduction of this system its also time they looked at this.

Yeah, but the wording on their Facebook post about the Achievement point changes uses the wording "Are you ready to start using those achievement points that you've been accumulating in Guild Wars 2?" which might suggest it being a currency, we'll see.

Radiant, Hellfire, and Zenith so it seems like there's 3. And from the looks of it it's just Helmet, Shoulder, and Glove skins. I am a bit annoyed that there is yet again another set of fire-themed equipment, people really think spiky+fire armor is real edgy huh?

I think the official blog quote plus: "Every point that you’ve earned while adventuring across Tyria will count towards exciting rewards, including:" from the same paragraph is more reliable. I'd guess Facebook was more just a PR thing/teasing or generalisation.

Although; looking at the list of rewards; it seems far too broad for them to unlock per tier of achievements and maybe we have some decisions to make.

Thank you Anet.

I hope you can pick your rewards like the point system in WvW. I would rather invest all my points in Buffs than Skins. Either way, I will be happy.

It does however say including, which would imply that there are more than those three.

This sort of long term reward progression is what has been missing in GW2 and should of been in game since launch as standard but I am glad they are starting to realize they need to focus on long term progression and long term rewards for the game to last instead of quick instant gratification temp stuff we have been getting.

It will probably keep more people in the game as now they will have more long term goals to work towards. Which is a good thing.

I have a gut feeling though they have had something like this already in the works just sitting there waiting to be finished since before beta and are only now putting it in the game so they can make it look like "look what we have been working on"...

Now if they can address guild and social functions, guild halls, damage is everything mechanics, more in depth character build's and skills customization, gambling in the gem store, less grind having to repeat tasks over and over, pressing f from a to b, more creative content and diminishing returns punishing the players for playing the game, make your hero feel like a hero and on an giant big adventure and story instead of just tagging along going through the motions plus a few other things im probably forgetting right now, then gw2 could start to look and feel like the game they made it out to be back those years ago.

Now one thing I will remember though is that it might all look good on a blog post, but what counts is how it works in game and how it will be handled or implemented, lets hope they nail it and it's not just another thing in the game no one really cares about.

Hoping this will bring something to the players craving long term goals.

I think rewards must be unlocked first before you can purchase them. Lets say with 1000 points you unlock a new piece of armor, but that piece costs 100 points. If you buy it you´ll have 900 to spend on other things, but your total points will still be 1000 and will keep increasing as you complete achievements, regardless if you buy rewards or not. I also guess there´ll be a few rewards that are "free", that you get automatically at reaching certaing achievements points.

I like the idea of the armor skins, and it gives me another reason to keep working on Achievements as a long term goal. I have been hoping they would make more armor/weapon sets available as skins( ones we all ready have in game, like the WvW vendor) but I know that might take away from the transmutation crystal sales.

Isn't Zenith weapon skins only? And yeah I hate that fact too. But they're probably leaving the other parts to be introduced later in thee upcoming months

I bet all these "free" rewards left Miss Cox turning on her coffin. How will they extort more money from us if they are diverting valuablr Gem Store resources to enrich an already reward deprived game? Impossible.

Honestly, this is good and I endorce it. Finaly we're getting proper items, with permanent sources, as reward.
