ArenaNet is excited to announce our first release that focuses exclusively on in-game features: the April 2014 Feature Pack, which hits Guild Wars 2 on April 15!

Posted Image

As a release that focuses primarily on game systems, the April 2014 Feature Pack will include a sweeping range of new features—everything from new systems that change and upgrade the way you experience Guild Wars 2 to quality of life and balance updates that improve existing gameplay systems.

We’ve got a lot planned for this first feature pack; too much to talk about in one blog post or video. Between now and the April 15 release, we’ll announce and discuss each major feature contained within the April 2014 Feature Pack.

Announced Features:
 • To discuss the first part of the feature Pack: Traits Unleashed, use this thread.
 • To discuss the second part of the feature pack: Runes, Sigils, Balance Updates, and Critical Damage updates, use this thread.
 • To discuss the third part of the feature pack: The new wardrobe and dye system, use this thread.
 • To discuss the fourth part of the feature pack:  Social updates, use this thread.

They weren't lying about the past Ready Up, that they have a lot to talk about.

And this is why I have faith in Arena Net. People try to marginlize them, show them as a company of incompetents and boobs, and then they show everyone why they are one of the best gaming companies on the planet.

Sounds interesting! Looking forward to it! However, I'd expect leveling to be more difficult given characters won't be receiving the stat bonuses or major/minor traits from trait points until later levels. Bascially by level 30 you'll be 200 stat points behind what you'd be at now. This could have a rather significant effect at lower levels where small stat discrepencies can make a significant difference.

Free, it's part of the free update cycle for the game.

Wait, hold on....no traits will be unlocked until level 30 now? Great...there goes the fun of raising an alt; there already was practically zero depth of progression between 1 and 10, now they are expanding that bore another 20 levels. Yippy.

This is one of the things that has me worried.
Hopefully they can offset this by adding some more allotment "points" to lower end gear for stats.

I do like that they want to make more builds viable though & are adding more traits. Hopefully they add more utility/elite skills soon as well, & while their at it spread more of the existing weapons around to existing classes (warhorn for Guardian & Mesmer, longbow for Thief, torch for Necromancer & Elementalist, off hand sword for ranger, & staff for Warrior.)

It would also be great to see some new weapons like whips, Polearms & great axes.

Another thing I & many people I know would love to see is utility skills & traits that "cross professions" between classes that are similar. For instance warriors & guardians could get a shout & a signet that both can use.

Not to mention locking grandmaster till max level, as if to think they have end-game content to use those on when you hit 80.

What about the trait reset consumables they had in the gem store and shoved in the BLC's? Redundant? I feel sorry for anyone who spent money on them just to be slapped in the face.

Still cannot save build templates. Maybe in 2016.

I wonder if they'll make up for that by locking weapons out by level, like in the China version.  Check the O'Brien China interview.  So instead of unlocking all your weapon skills prior to level 10, assume that 1 - 30 might be for just getting access to all your weapon skills.

Can't wait for March 27, Removing Restriction and Account Bound. do you think they will make things like dye and philosopher stones into accouont bound instead of character bound/base?

TBH I wouldn't like to see dye become acc bound, although it would be incredibly useful for alts, it would either destroy or make higher the value of them. Not sure how the community would react to that with pricing.

Yes on the dye, at least.  The Chinese version of the game has account-bound dyes, and it looks like our "big feature patch" is syncing some things up with them.

Dyes are account bound, but they no longer drop as loot.  Instead, you can craft them or buy them in the gem store.

You got to lose some to win some. If they are account bound now, and less random, you got to cut their drop rate and sources. Right? Best start investing on those expensive dyes.

It was getting pretty clear that they weren't going to be selling dye packs unless they were gem store only packs like the Flame & Frost dyes (which weren't account bound) due to world drops and their character-bound nature of them.  People had been telling them that one since launch.
