Arenanet are here with a new blog post that has some good news for the French and German Guild Wars 2 community.

Hello, everyone, my name is Stéphane Lo Presti. As a community manager for ArenaNet, one of my roles is to act as a liaison between our studio and the wiki community. And today, I’d like to share some exciting news for French and German gamers: we’re launching official French and German Guild Wars 2 wikis! But before we get into details, I’d like to say a few words about wikis in general.

No idea if there'll be enough demand for these, so can't say if it's a good thing or not.

Wikis that people can read in their own language sounds like a good thing to me. There eventually comes a point in the game where there is no more "spoiling" it and its nice to have the wiki to reference to plan for titles and such.

The problem is just that these wikis are severely lacking and usually not useful at all.

Like post above said, they'll very likely be severely lacking compared to the English version, up to a point they might not be worth using even if you prefer reading in your own language. But once again, I don't know the demand for these things, so I might be wrong...

well, it will be up to those French and German native language people to keep it up to date. I don't know either so I can't help out. :zip:

The german Guildwiki for Guild Wars 1 was nearly like the english one. Everytime I wanted to look something up I found it. All my friends are using the German Wiki not the english one.

A) Wikis by definition are developed by the user base. One can't judge the quality of a wiki based on its content when it has just gone live.
B ) Guild Wars 1 has a HUGE following in Germany. More so then the US and anywhere else in Europe. There is a reason so many GW2 announcements were made at Gamescom.

Guild Wars is hugely popular in Germany. And that may be an understatement.

What's the hurry? You think the game's gonna launch and wiki won't be ready in time or something? ;)

I know many German people who are too lazy to translate the english wiki content or just cant speak english.

So it's good to have a German site to get input.
