From this concept, create a high-resolution mesh using a package such as ZBrush. Then, convert the high-resolution mesh to a 6,500 poly low-resolution mesh using a 1024 diffuse, specular, and normal map (three maps total). Your test should demonstrate an understanding of modeling in high and low resolution, and diversity in the appearance of texture using a single material.

I wonder what they need more artists for, though...

It would have been nice if they had given a time limit, a little stress is always good. I am thinking of taking this challenge, not to get the job, but just for fun ^^

But man, a fully textured mesh model? Everyone I know who works with Maya/ZBruch/Bender usually takes AGES for everything, given they are no professionals, but still. Curious how long it'd take a dedicated artist to complete the assignment.
Good luck to anyone who enters though, seems like a great career opportunity!

I wonder how many try to rip off the in-game Norn mesh model and send it in xD

Yeah, don't need to tell me - I've tried so many of them to get something done, never went far because I am really too impatient to learn it
Just enhanced my respect for those who learn to master it.

Completing a project like this can take weeks indeed, depends on how fast you work.

Am I alone in wondering why this is just now being done for a 2012 release?

I didn't think it was news, but they are indeed adding content post-release that will need art.

Kind of disappointing that the artist portrayed chose to draw a male and female Norn armor, and the female version was drawn drastically different from the male version in the "lack of armor" category. Once again we are reminded that media is created for the male straight gamer in mind. All other humans must play their part as objects for straight men to lust over.

Fresh blood for GW 2 Expansions? Maybe some of the artists they currently have intend to move onto new adventures once they've ended their year-long job on Guild Wars 2, so they hire new ones.
Didn't strike me as too odd, tbh.
