ArenaNet has just announced on their official blog that those ordering the Guild Wars 2 Collector's Edition will receive a $5 off coupon for the Original Game Soundtrack.

Quote

Each album features hours of evocative in-game music and is personally signed by Jeremy Soule himself (while supplies last).

For some reason I thought we were getting the soundtrack with the collectors edition. Other than Rytlock that was the only reason I was getting collectors edition. It's not like they're giving us anything in-game for getting the Collectors edition. Which I i think is crap by the way. There is nothing different between digital deluxe and collectors when it comes to in-game items. There should be considering its a collectors edition and the Steep price jump from one to the other.

I'm actually a little soured over this.

The CE contains the "best of" soundtrack as far as I know, they never promised to give us the full soundtrack.

You knew what was in the Collectors Edition when they announced it - a "Best of" from the soundtrack. So 1 CD with a selection of the soundtrack. It was clear that they would sell the complete soundtrack seperately. (At least to me...)
I'm a bit annoyed that the announcement of the coupon being in the CE came so late, but it's ok- $5 is not that much and I wouldn't have wanted to wait anyway...
I'll post the coupon code here or on the other CD thread when I get it and someone will be happy about it I hope. So the code will not be wasted^^

While I certainly wouldn't complain if the CE came with a 4-disc soundtrack, I didn't expect it to.  (especially since the CD was called "Best of GW2 Soundtrack").

I also expected that the Soundtrack would be available on Direct Song, as the other CE soundtracks were.

At least it appears you can only get the "Best of GW2 Soundtrack"  in the CE.  So, we have an exclusive item... sort of.  :)

We also get a unique 100+ page hardcover "Making of Guild Wars 2" book (easily worth $20).

And, of course, the Rytlock Figurine.

The Physical Collector's Edition is just that:  a physical CE.  If you don't care for the figurine or the artbook (or the "best of" soundtrack), there was no reason to buy it.

The CE is a much steeper price entirely because of the rytlock figure.

Look on the upside... you might get an autographed copy!   I'm gonna wait for the coupon, but I realize there will be no signed copies by then.

"PLEASE NOTE, all orders placed will be personally autographed by composer Jeremy Soule while supplies last."

(It also takes 4 weeks to ship!)

I do! Shouldn't sound like I don't :) I love the idea of getting a signed copy. Jeremy Soule's work is amazing!

Forgot to mention I already bought the cds as well. I caught the "the best of" thing when I got the Collectors edition. I guess the point I was trying to make was that why wasn't this included as someone above me mentioned, it sure would've been nice to have a collectors soundtrack in your collectors edition... just saying.

Side note, I do want the book, and the figure as well. All I ever buy is collectors editions. Being pretty much a buyer of only collectors editions I feel as though the content of this CE is lacking when considering the price and comparing it to other CEs. The Rytlock statue has to be WETA workshop quality or something to justify the cost.

Maybe instead of a 5$ coupon for the CD they can give a 5$ coupon for gems in the gem store? I would go for that.

Hmmm, now you are talking!  Especially for those who already ordered the Complete Soundtrack before the announcement was made....

Exactly what I'm thinking! :)

I cant wait to listen to Jeremy Soule's wonderful music for GW2, I bought it the second it popped up. I own copies of pretty much all his music. It would be a nice gesture to those of us who have no need for a 5$ coupon for a cd we already own. Plus I wanted a signed copy (waiting till after I pick up my CE for the coupon probably wouldn't have netted me one). If he really does sign them all by hand, he is going to have a really sore hand after all those sigs. I've got two other soundtracks signed by him. The Skyrim signature looks especially cool signed in thick gold ink.

Does the voucher work outside of the US, or is it a US only offer?

You can purchase from Directsong from outside the US so most likely it won't be "US only".

While I do like the music, I don't think I'll be using it to buy the full soundtrack with. Already spent way too much on Guild Wars 2 and PC upgrades. :D
Main reason I got the CE was for the "Making of" book anyway.

I know a very pissed off person with a CE who already bought the soundtrack thinking there were no connections to the CE. Bad timing on that announcement...

I'm confused on exactly how I'm supposed to get my voucher. I pre-purchased from gamestop...what should I do?

Good timing.  They will have reaped the full price off impulse buyers who own the CE, and the rest who were on the edge now have yet another reason to throw them money.

The voucher comes with your CE, so when you get your physical items it'll be there.

I purchased the soundtrack the day it was announced, and I also bought the CE. I'm a little annoyed that this announcement came so late, but then again $5 doesn't really matter to me.

It would be nice of them to let us convert that coupon into gems though. At least then it would get used.

I just wish there were a way to get that coupon code early. Now we have to wait until after release before we can order the 4CD soundtrack pack. First, that could mean the batch of personally signed soundtracks is already gone ("while supplies last"), second, they tell us that your order "will ship within four weeks from the date of purchase"... meaning we may have to wait another 4 weeks after launch before we get the set. Couldn't the retailers already mail out (or hand out) the coupon codes to the people who pre-purchsed the CE with them?

I seem to think they have not sold as many CEs as they originally thought they would...Arenanet ("AN") added CEs to Amazon (originally just Gamestop), AN are giving people another incentive to buy the CE now ($5 coupon), and AN put up a few blog posts about the CE (making the Rytlock, etc.).
