Are they giving Pre-purchase bonus for a pre-order. No trouble with me, but seem like Anet could dislike that.

A.Net was probably the one that actually made it possible.
It's Amazon after all.

I don't get it.

Why would you buy it from Amazon when you could buy it from the GW2 website if you get the exact same deals for the exact same price? Other than with Amazon you get the CD. (I think)

This is pre-order, no commitment. You have to flat out buy it from ANet/NCSoft to get the same deal.

I personally think it's not very nice for all of us who pre-purchased to be able to get the same deal, sans the Amazon credit. I know it's the fate of any early adopter to pay more and miss out on deals later down the line but this leaves a sour feeling in my stomach, just out of principle.

ahh, I see. So someone can buy from Amazon, gain access to all betas/stress tests/headstart and not be committed? How does that work?

I think I would've been fine with this if they didn't have the 3 day headstart but there's not much we do about it.  :(

After September 2 (five days after official launch), if they don't enter a retail code, they will not be able to continue to play the game.

At least, that's how it works for US Standard Pre-purchase, and the CE, I would guess the same would apply to Amazon pre-order.

My only concern is some people will use up good names, not buy the game, and those names will be reserved for possibly the life of the game!

i think most people wanted a special kind of deal when they waited for something like this to happen but you can also say that you have been in first two beta before the last one. XD

And the amazon confusion continues! There was one thread with people upset about the fact that amazon wasn't included in the bonuses and the whole pre-purchase program from the start and now amazon basically gives you all the same stuff with only a pre-order, somewhat effectively screwing over those who already pre-purchased through anet. They really should have just offered all 3 versions of the game through amazon from day 1, but it's too late for that now.

I am a little confused myself now. Amazon seems to have the 3 different versions now, but also an option for the SE + $5 credit for the exact same price if you just choose the SE by itself. I don't get it, do people who already chose just the SE now have to re-order the SE + $5 credit version even though it's the exact same price? And if not, why have 2 different options to choose from? Or maybe it is that the SE PC download gets the $5 credit, but if you ordered a physical SE you don't get the $5?? It's also kind of strange that they now offer the collector's edition as well! So much for that being LIMITED they must have tons of extra they want to get rid of.

well, for whatever reason my credit card does not work on arenanet's online store.  that is my reason for buying from amazon.

(btw amazon has been offering all the preorder bonuses for a while now, but only for the box version i purchased on 6/28 originally and got sent the beta code immediately.  i then canceled my order when they added the digital version cause * boxed copys)

It would appear that the $5 Video Game credit is only available for the Download editions.  I already have 2 copies of that, I just want a third boxed copy - the $5 credit would be nice to put towards another purchase. :P

I just got confused just from reading that and trying to understand it. X.X

This has been discussed before. They don't get the same thing as they did not gain access to ALL the betas, but only SOME of the betas.  Yes it sucks that their reward for pre-purchasing is even better, but such is the nature of sales. You sometimes buy things and they go on sale a month later. You clearly valued your purchase at the time enough to make it, so at least cherish that you got what you wanted.

So basically there are 4 options total now: a physical SE, a physical CE, a digital DE w/ $5 credit, or a digital SE w/ $5 credit. Still can't believe they are offering the CE when it was supposedly limited and they said buy it now so you don't lose out lol! If amazon is selling the CE I'm sure they have a ton of them and won't run out anytime soon, otherwise why put it up for sale through such a big online retailer.
