Arenanet have now posted the deadline for people to reserve their Guild Wars 1 character name in a new blog post.
Quote We’re building our Guild Wars 2 name reservation list on July 31. We’re only reserving character names from activeGuild Wars accounts, which is why you’ll need to log in at least once before we build the list in order to be considered an active Guild Wars player. If you’re a Guild Wars player who wants to use your character names in Guild Wars 2, now is the time to stake your claim. It’s easy—all you have to do is log in to your Guild Wars account to reserve all your character names. But don’t delay—the deadline for name reservation is July 31.

Does this now include one word names? Or still ony two word names?
Guild Wars 1 only accepts 2-word names.

So the real name-race starts when the headstart starts, and after the unclaimed names are released
- can we reserve 1-word names?
No. There will be a mad rush to reserve one-word names at launch.

I'm confused, once you log in...how do you reserve a name?
You don't have to do anything. You just have to log in.

I thought you could just pick what ever name, even if it was taken, and just get a different 4-digit suffix?
the 4-digit suffix name is the name used in forums or in the contacts list in-game. It has nothing to do with character names

If I delete a character after the reservation date, its name will still be reserved for that account?
If it's deleted after the 31st I would guess that yes it is in their lists even if deleted, but I wouldn't delete him just to be safe

As long as you have logged into GW1 sometime between January 1, 2012 -- July 31, 2012: your name is reserved.
"So we’ll use the following very generous definition of active: Guild Wars players will be considered active—thus having their Guild Wars names reserved and available to claim during Headstart Access and on launch day—if they have logged into the game at least once between January 1, 2012 and the day we build the name reservation list." (July 31, 2012).

Will the name still be reserved even if I haven't linked my Gw1 account yet to a Gw2 one?
It will be reserved if you've logged on GW1, but you'd have to link an account before the release because 1 day after release it won't be reservered anymore

Do you think that certain words/names have been "pre-reserved" or taken out of the available list by Arenanet?
