Arenanet heads to Gamescom Germany


Arenanet has just announced that players and fans who are attending Gamescom Germany can receive a unique in-game item upon attending their show.

With the release of Guild Wars 2 just around the corner, the community team is heading off to Cologne for gamescom.

If you are attending gamescom from the 15th to 19th of August, why not drop by our booth in Hall 8, enjoy a drink, have a chat with the team and fellow fans alike.

To celebrate this we’ll be giving away a special in-game item to those that can tell us the daily password, all you need to do is watch our twitter feed every morning between 8am and 10am during the show. We will announce a (not so) secret password during this time and if you find Aidan, Martin, David, Stephane, Melanie or Ramon and whisper us this password.

We will be giving out a new password every day (beginning Wednesday 15th) don't be late, stock will be limited for each day.

We hope to see you on the show floor!

I hope it is something cosmetic, I hate things you have to go to events for.

It looks like a unique skin to me, something related to Orr, featuring some form of a margonite pattern.

A shame I have to work, haven't been to Köln for a while and I could have gotten a fix pre release again :(

Unique skins for showing up at a convention annoy me...nothing I can do about it though, I know no one that is going to Gamescom that can get one for me.

I wish it would be some skin used elsewhere too. I hate that people who don't have the money or not capable of traveling will miss an item because of this kind of things. :|

despite my 48/50 hard earned points...im really jealous of the item they will get..if the skin is really awesome (or not) i can see the winners transmutating it for their entire gameplay in GW2

As a completionist, I hate being left off of a skin by the simple fact of not being able to afford a trip to Gamescom (and I'd love to go there, not only for GW2 ofc)... But meh, a skin is a skin. If it is indeed a skin.

They did this in GW1 with some mini pets that became the most expensive things in the game. (ONI, Panda anyone?)

Kinda makes me mad we miss out just because we don't live near some gamecon.

And they did such a nice job of not *ing it up. Now they pull something that is worse than Store-Exclusive-DLCs :/

Well I got all the HOM items and Digital Deluxe items... I was SO close to having every bonus item at launch too...

Eh.. I really hope it's just some temporary consumable otherwise it's kinda unfair if you ask me. The chance to have a drink and chat with the devs should be the pulling power to the event, not just some exclusive fluff...

Oh well, a big wallet today worth more than a fan for the last 6-7 years I guess..

Ehhhh little pissed, giving unique stuff at stuff like this where the vast majority of people won't be able to go for a variety of reasons is not good in my books.  The skin better be crap.....

Daaamn... I was gonna go to gamescom this year with a camerateam, but like 2 months ago I found out I can't go.... Then I heard GW2 will be there and I got even more sad that I couldn't go. Now THIS? Daaaamn you destiny!!!!

But luckily a girl I know is going and I asked her if she can get this code for me :P I'll be whatsapping her the "not so secret code" so she can get it for me...

i dont like it .... had a chance to go but the traveling is expensive :( still dont care about a skin which other players will get , just hope we can buy it from the store later on

Yes, this is very annoying. It is in poor taste to favor certain fans over others by providing something unique in-game that many others can't get.

My only hope is it is something that can be gained in-game in Orr through other means.
