The time has come for Guild Wars 2’s e-sport community to stop expecting ArenaNet to build up their scene and take matters into their own hands. The e-sports subdivision has is driven by a strong drive in the community that we must put to use. Thus it is my proud honour to present to you “Guru e-Sports” a hub for all competitive e-sport players to look to in bringing you all the details and events of the Guild Wars 2 e-sports community.

“Guru e-Sports” will aim to bring many things that an e-sport community deserves, however we would hate to make promises and then never deliver on them so the ideas presented to you in the following article only details a vague idea of the things to come and entirely counts on the willingness of the community and the support that we get in this.

Content
It is our goal to bring you loads of content and many ideas have been brain stormed in order to bring you premier content on a consistent basis.

Our goal is to bring you things such as:
 • Team Movements
 • Rumour Mill
 • Guides
 • Match Preview/Reviews
 • Consistent high-quality streaming
 • Casted Matches
 • State of the Game
 • Interview/Team Spotlights
 • And much, much more.
Team Exposure & Stream Featuring
We here at the Guru e-Sports department understand that exposure is needed for teams to thrive, to gain sponsors and sign organisations and thus we plan to provide that. Many teams have already been recognised and even more teams will become recognised as we plan to feature streams in a stream plug-in that will display on the main Guru page.

Not only will we be featuring individual streams but we will also be offering the opportunity for teams to guest stream on the main Guru Channel. This way we can have a consistent stream running with multiple teams and players providing the viewers with a clearly scheduled stream containing high quality pvp most hours of the day!

Tournament Coverage
As soon as ArenaNet provides the community with private servers an enormous increase in tournaments will pop-up as players and organisations gets the required platform to host these. To make sure that even the smallest tournaments gets the support it deserves we will be helping all hosts advertise their tournaments. On top of that we plan on doing a small coverage including game predictions and provide the hosts with help to find suitable casters if needed.

Events
The following are two event ideas we have come up with and before releasing them to the public we will be trying some private-invite only versions to test the format and ensure that we can handle it. Remember we are here to satisfy the community so we don't want to bring a horrible tournament as that could destroy our chances to building an e-Sport community.

The Guru Sunday/Monthly Cup
A cup run every Sunday/Month that will feature <up to 100> teams battling against each other in a single elimination bracket style format. Registration for this cup will begin earlier in the week and the cup will likely start on a yet to be decided day in early afternoon and play out till the finals later on in the night. We will push to ensure that at least 1 player from each team from the quarter finals records so that we can provide a cast from then on in case the spectator mode is yet to be released. The amount of teams and how often we are able to do this depends entirely on how many supporters we can get from the community.

The Guru League
Our goal is to have a league consisting of five divisions; 4th Division, 3rd Division, 2nd Division, 1st Division and the Premier Division. The premier division will consist of Guild Wars 2’s top 24 teams and the divisions will get bigger as you go down divisions. Promotion and demotion will occur for teams performing and not performing. Of course qualifiers will be run in order to decide initial league.

Conclusion
Guru e-Sports will serve as a community hub to service the community. We are here to satisfy your needs and to hear your feedback and improve on our events and content. Content writers and admins will be recruited to make sure the site is at optimal efficiency.

If you are interested in helping out, through content writing or being a tournament admin, then please send me an email at - Make sure you include a little information about yourself and what you want to help out with and a descriptive description!

The site will first go through a closed beta in which we invite certain teams to view and offer feedback as well as a closed league in which an invite only league will occur allowing us to fully test our systems. The finals of this league will be a show match and will serve as the grand opening to something special.

Any feedback or support is very much appreciated so drop a comment below with suggestions!

What I hope is this never has the chance to take off because arena net implements their own...but otherwise, good luck sounds great!

Posting "Arena Net's failure to deliver"... the day before they implement a patch that adds to spvp?

Well, I get the point, can't expect them to do it all, esports is community driven thing, its great to see guru doing it's part :D best of luck.

Even if ArenaNet implement's their own tomorrow this would still be going live.

ArenaNet won't manage or provide the same type of content/amount of content that we hope to provide through this.

I really dont see why the two cant co-exist it happens in every other e-sport and 3rd party tournaments are even more frequent

Nice!

I hope the rumor mill is very FACTUAL, otherwise I would avoid it unless you plan to only use it for talking about who's getting sponsored or big teams.

As Link said. 3rd Party Tournaments will probably be the heavier medium for esports in GW2

AUTO or MAT/YAT will be great but depending on how Anet handles QP's we will have to see.

I really like this initiative!! Can't wait to see what this will come to.

One thing, it's kinda weird to start a "e-sport supporting movement" and use a PvE screenshot as header.. :P

I think it's a very interesting and extensive initiative and my greatest appreciations for all those who are making it possible. :)

There's just one concern, though, that I want to point out.
I think it shows some bad taste for a website which lives entirely upon the enthusiasm created by ArenaNet and their outstanding product to state publicly that ArenaNet "failed to deliver" on the e-sports side. I perfectly understand that some expectations may have been disappointed, and there's nothing wrong is making that heard, but when it comes to official statements from the admins, it would have been better, I think, to avoid such a cheap way to please the more "vocal" side of the community.
ArenaNet is making happen EVERYTHING you are going to show through your nice initiative. And they are also specifically working on preparing more advanced features for the competitive scene. The first one should go online in a matter of days. It will be rather up to you to stay up to the way the shape the competitive scene in time.

That's it. That said, again: it's really a praiseworthy and bold initiative.
