Looked through some of them really makes me wanna play GW2. I appreciate all the hard work you guys did for us. Though I can't get the interactive maps to work. It just stays white.

That is rather odd. It is my first time using the Google Maps API but I have had no trouble in any of my browsers. All I can suggest is to try again later and then if you still have no luck then reply stating which browser you are using. Do the controls on the left of the page appear? If not then your browser may not be loading the scripts.

*Calls for sticky*

Pro interactiveness.  Enjoying all the maps again, and I love the high quality on the event path maps.  Some of those couldn't be read from the old versions. :D

Indeed. Some of these maps are beautiful. The higher quality maps were added to the older thread but by then the thread had started to die down. I plan to come up with a full list of credits for the map pieces as this was more of a community effort. There would be no compilation of maps without the contribution from the community here at GW2Guru.

I LOVE the sheer size of things, looking at these maps. :D I had seen that map of the Timberline Falls, and for some reason I figured it'd take up a fourth or fifth of the shiverpeaks... but really, it doesn't even make up a tenth! I can't wait to see the other capitals, and what they look like on the world map. :D

Yes the controls do appear I'll just wait and see if the map pops up

Zoom mouse wheel is inverted there. Upwards should zoom in, downwards should zoom out.

Otherwise, fantastic! Can't wait till we will be able to add markers there!

So much detail was put into these maps and yet we still have so many more to see.

This is great in the respect that it means they are putting a lot of time and energy into the game, but scary because that means it is pushing the release date...

But with this level of detail, I can wait.

If it still does not load then I can't really offer any solutions. All I can say is to try a different web browser, or even a different computer if possible. I do not know what the problem is without knowing a bit more. Perhaps you could debug the page and tell me what errors it is giving. I know safari and chrome have built-in consoles. Not sure about FireFox but FireBug is good. As for IE... I have no idea.

I will try to upload a mirror on another site and you could perhaps try that.

Heh, are you sure? As far as I know it is doing the default behavior for Google Maps. I am using a trackpad rather than a scrollwheel but my 2 finger scroll up zooms in and 2 finger scroll down zooms out.

I'm sure, just checked actual maps.google.com... And well, it was *that* awkward feeling from the beginning :)

Edit:
Double checked: it's Opera 11 who's behavior is wrong. It zooms in/out like it should on maps.google.com, but inverses on your maps.

Alright, thank you. I will look in to it. There may be a setting that changes how the scrolling functions. I will try to improve the scripts too.

I updated the thread with a long list of credits. I tried to add as many names as possible but there are many others I am sure. Thanks everyone.

I reported the site to Opera developers, since it's probably more on their side :P

I haven't even noticed that one of the questions from the upcoming GuildMag interview had been answered by one of these maps. ;)

Won't say which until tomorrow. :p

@ Ares: a job very well done. It felt good "re-exploring" those areas with my eyes. Can't wait to see what the "Stone Summit Ruinator" event in Timberline Falls holds. Same with Martyr's Tomb (Saul D'Alessio) in the Demetra map. :)

Edit: In the meantime, a teaser of what is to come...

22nd December 2010: UPDATE 2:
Recently found a new map piece which shows much further north than originally thought to exist. Shows a body of water towards the North East of the world map. Unclear if any of these sections will be able to be explored. Will update world map after Christmas.

Mind linking or giving the source?

(Ill just assume its not the GW1 version of the map, though I guess there might be some people here who have not played the original and thus wouldn't recognise it.)

Sure.

Okay so it really isn't much more than we already had but it is my mission to get as much out of these limited photos and screenshots. I am also thinking that there would not be a ridiculous amount of free space around the edges so the further I can expand out, the higher the possibility that the other areas that were thought to be at the edges will be accessible.

Also, I have uploaded a larger Kryta map. If you would like to see this updated map, you can see it here. I am currently working on adding locations to the map so it is a work in progress. I will replace the old Kryta map with this one once I have finished.

Must admit I somewhat hoped for a newish map piece, but okay, thanks for the clarification.

Also don't expect to much area saturation.
Its true that the map itself will be larger and the available space nearly doubled due to swimming, but its also confirmed that there will be inaccessable areas, at least at the initial release, for example the "Dominion of Winds" and likely (since we can only fight Zaithan) the liars of the remaining dragons.

Some of the visible open sea and crystal desert, that belong to the deep sea dragon and palawa joko, seem likewise probable candidates to be left out at release and included for canthan and elonian expansions.
