Hey,
I really like this site and its information about Guildwars 2. Since I read the Skill Compendium I wanted to start creating my builds. But it was quiet hard to keep every skill in my head to combine them to a build. Since I study programming and I needed to learn a bit of PHP/MySQL/html I created this website with a "build/character creator" for guildwars 2 based on your skill list. I hope you enjoy it! ;)

I already wrote about this in the Skill Compendium Thread but discussion shouldn't go off topic there so I opened this thread for feedback.

I actually stumbled upon your site yesterday, it will definitely be useful.

A little feedback; it would be handy if you could read the skill description by hovering over it's name before putting it on your skillbar.

I think it's great, especially for all those critics who keep saying the amount of choices in GW2 is a lot lower than in GW1 (although including traits, attributes and equipment would help even more but that's beyond the initial idea of the creator I know).

Any plans for the Elementalist and for elite, utility and healing skills?

There's utility and healing skills. Above the blank slots, click "choose".

Ah right, I didn't see it, nevermind me then ;) Maybe make that a bit more clear and also make it clear that slot 6 = healing, slot 7-9 = utility and slot 10 = elite.

Awesome job!
Only feedback I can give is it would be great if a tooltip or something came up when you were picking utility skills and give you the description of the skill, so that if there's a skill you're unfamiliar with you can see what its description is before placing it on the bar.
Otherwise its good. :)

Cool and useful. Also a good tool to show how the skill system works.

Excellent job ;) very nice. This builder proves how different can your character be from another depending on which utility skills you equip. Your warrior can go from a destroyer machine to a big support role. And we don't even know which are the traits for each class/race! (Well I don't know if we have racial traits too or only class traits)

A support warrior I would be happy to play ^^

Found an issue. The first time I go and add a skill to the bar from the list, it opens a new tab showing the change rather than applying the change in the current tab. I'm using Firefox so I don't know if it's supposed to open a new window normally or what. Thanks for making this. Totally awesome.

Also a good thing to note, this build generator shows how important placement on the battle field is in GW2 (what angle you hit an opponent at).

Examples (from Ranger since that is what I'm currently toying with):
Concussion Shot: Shoot an arrow to daze an enemy. To stun enemies, hit them from behind.
Crossfire: Shoot an arrow that does more damage if it strikes an enemy from behind or the side.
Path of Scars: Throw your axe such that it flies back to you, hitting a number of enemies along the way. (number of enemies hit depends on where they are in relation to where you are when the axe is thrown/caught)

This is a great tool.  You are amazing.  I would like to second the request for mouse-over descriptions of the skills if possible.

This is super awesome! Thank you so much! <3 <3 :D

Are you planning to build traits in it? Because some traits will influence skills.

e: I'm not a super fan of the ranger because he can use so many melee weapons. But i love this setup :D

Oh, dude this is awesome! I mean, when I read your post I was expecting no more than a simple and error-filled site, but this tool is throughrougly well made and designed! Good job indeed!

Just a note, Fyrby.

The skills compendium might be just a tad dated.  Corsair and I compiled a revised version of the profession skills in each of the stickies listed in the Vigil Assembly.  Check it out if you find the time, and see if any of the descriptions (and specifically recharges) can be improved on.

That build looks amazingly fun to play! Alot of control, support and damage in one! *drewl*

I also had this once. When i started over in the new tab. The problems were gone :/ I'm using IE btw. So it's not because of Firefox.

I think it's not implemented yet because it's somewhat more complicated with the attunements ;)

I don't think those were in the demo, although I may be wrong.

A bit upset that this build for warriors seems to be much more effective with a bow than rangers with any builds we can make with currently known skills.

But then again...it may just be that I need to shake the idea of "bows are for rangers" from GW1.
GW2 is build based on weapon where GW1 was weapon based on build.

Greatsword is missing on the Ranger because we don't know any of its skills yet.  Same for Necro Staff.

Necro axe we do know though, so that should be remedied soon. :)

Great idea! I like what you've done so far!

Though hovering over skill descriptions is an absolute must, and just a little fine tuning here and there (adding the few more skills that we learnt of, not in the demo), and adding Elementalist and I think this will be the main build area for a long time if you can keep it up. :)

I'm also a bit worried/upset. I guess if you wanna be a Ranger that purely use bows, you'd be better off going Warrior with this or a similar build? :(
