I can't even express how excited I am, since I've read each book at least 4 or 5 times, and with such a brilliant cast of actors, we're getting our deserved adult fantasy on the TV.
The GoT playlist on youtube.
On IGN.
Main page on HBO.

I mean, come on, the last one postponed so much and now Martin has even less reason to work on the books. I'm beginning to be afraid that he would die or become sick before he finishes the saga, he's getting older with each year...

Although, I know where you're aiming to... if he releases the next two books in such a span, we might get to the end of the series in 2020 (and I really hope we wont).

Most HBO viewers are the modern soap opera crowd...doubt they'll be into medieval fantasy. Probably should have gone the Walking Dead path and gotten on cable instead of HBO, cuz shows with ideas like this fail on HBO.
Looking forward to it though since my TV just happens to get HBO.

When is George R. R. Martin going to finish the next book? He's been "writing" it for seven years!

I really hope he finishes the story...but I've decided to wait until it's done before I read any more. I think I would go insane if things never get resolved.
I switched up my cable and got HBO for a year...I'm excited to see how the show turns out. Also, if you haven't read the books...it very much is a soap opera in a fantasy setting. It potentially could be very big for HBO. The magical and other-worldly elements are fairly subtle...most of it is the interactions, relationships, and intrigue between the many characters and their families and kingdoms. The books are thousands of pages long, and probably at least half of the pages are descriptions of the colors / banners of each house and what they eat for dinner. :D

I'm sure that had much to do with him FINALLY releasing it. But it's been, what, 9 years in the making?
I had hoped he would release it before the series premiere.
Also. On April 3rd, there's going to be a 15 minute preview of GoT on HBO

Today's news is about the redesigned covers for the series. I'm kinda undecided on those. I don't really want a whole new set, but I have trade paperback in just three and mass pb in the third (I favor trade over mass or hardcover). I was planning on getting the third in trade new or used to match, but soon via internet it may be a potshot on which shows up in the mail. I do like the new cover art though, and I suppose it's possible or likely that the fifth coming out will only have the new art.
