The Guardian can conjure Spirit Weapons, Symbols, Wards and Aegis boons. The Guardian has the option of wielding a one-handed mace, sceptre or sword with an off-hand focus, shield or torch. Better still, the Guardian can pick-up and swing huge two-handed weapons the greatsword, hammer and staff.
Virtues represent a Guardian's special ability, and they are three: Justice, Courage and Resolve. These can either be passive, and apply benefits to the Guardian as he or she adventures. Or they can be activated into shouts, enhancing nearby allies' powers. For instance, Resolve regenerates health and can be shouted to apply the same buff to friends. Doing so, however, removes your self-buff for two minutes.

Pretty big reveal right there!

I'm thinking symbols are the things Logan painted in the air in The Edge of Destiny, probably protective shields and the like.

Yea, I think that is the blue painting mentioned in the book. But mechanic wise, is it just work like the elementalist glyph that you cast once or like signet with passive and active effect. or simply another name for spell

It's a heavy armour class that can yield a staff or sceptre/focus, I really like the sound of that and how it's going to look.

So maybe like only Necros get Fear condition, only Guardians get the Aegis boon? Am really interested in seeing what Symbols do.

staff...greatsword....it really is a mixture between a war, a paragon (shouts) and a monk...and a ritualist!!!

It' might be very good or very bad....right now I'm falling in love with it ^_^

Gah! Give me my Mesmer already! Pleeeease I am dying here :qq:

As for todays reveal, the Guardian sounds quite cool. Its taken all the great mechanics from all the support professions from GW1 and put them altogether for a very viable profession by the sounds of it!

I'm glad to see active protection making a return, its certainly looking like an interesting profession and one that I'd like to try my hand at.

However I can also see it being a profession that few people play well.

Myself included.

I'm,... I'm really hoping it draws heavily from Ritualists, and seeing as how they can conjure spirit weapons,... <3.

That sound pretty good, I always liked the summoning class. And it seems to be combined with some punch aswell. Ok now my F5 key will get no rest at all.

I hope they get the balance they are striving for: "He feels very magical, he feels very much like the one who comes in and saves the day, but in the reality of it he plays a similar support role as a Necromancer."

Spirit weapons? Bye possible eventual Ritualist return. :qq:

I wasn't getting my hopes up for this profession (hated its name at first), but I'm beginning to see the light!! If it draws some similarities to my favorite, aforementioned, GW1 class (defensive support was my favorite role) yet is versatile I would definitely be interested in playing this. Plus... two-handed sword. <3

*goes back to spazzing uncontrollably in excitement*

PS: Good to see (pretty much) confirmation of the Assassin-like profession.

So ritualist armor/appearance went to the necros, and weapon skills went to the guardian.

I hope with the guardian I will be able to make a melee ritualist then, preferably with tattoos :P

I hope this class is destroyed in the eternal flames of hell, if it feels like a shitty WoW rogue.

BTW: I DEFINITELY will make a Guardian with my second/third character.

did the wording suggest that you can swing mighty weapons like a great sword, battle hammer and staff?

Ditto. WoW rogue gameplay makes me sleepy.

But man.. Guardian sounds pretty cool. Have to say I'm really more of a front lines fighter guy though so I could see my first character being a Warrior and then the second being a Guardian. What can I say? I'm a sucker for plate armor. :p

Or perhaps we can think of the Guardian as a Paladin?

"Yeah you could probably say that," agreed Flannum.
This line is going to be quoted like no other.

It's a bit sad how all these nice mechanisms are mentioned, why the monk is gone, only to confess that really, it's just a Paladin... People are going to jump to conclusions for this way too fast.

Ah, well, I'll see what spin Anet will be giving to it.

lol @ skillvids already being released :D

that puts some fears to rest... or at least gives a hope that the guardian wont be needed

Well, for the lack of comparison... They used Paladin since they protect and use heavy armor. But they are different from the WoW/DnD Paladin since they don't smite/heal/tank.
