English Part of the Interview

Enjoy reading it, i haven't finished it yet :D

Class Description (translated from German):

* Symbols: The Guardian can place symbols which give advantages to his allies or damage enemies, for example Symbol of Faith is a Hammerattack that gives allies the "Lifeforce" Boon. A symbol only stays for a few seconds.
* Wards: The Guardian can mark areas which can't be passed by enemies, party members are not affected. With the Staff, the Guardian can draw an unpassable line on the ground which hinders the movement of enemies (The Guardian also has a circle ward).
* Aegis: With Aegis, the Guardian can block the next attack. The virtue "Courage" enables this Boon.
* Spirit Weapons: The Guardian can summon strong Spirit Weapons which fight enemies but can't be attacked. They vanish after a set period of time but can unleash a mighty attack on command. After that, the Spirit Weapons vanish immediately. The Guardian can summon a Hammer of Wisdom for example which knockdown enemies.

Virtues

* Courage: You can block an attack every 30 seconds with Aegis. If you activate this Skill, Allies get the Aegis Boon, Courage will be disabled for 120 seconds then.
* Resolve: You regenerate Life Points. If you activate this Skill, Conditions will be removed and Allies will regenerate Life Points, Resolve will be disabled for 120 seconds then.
* Justice: With every 5th attack you inflict "Burning" on the enemy. If you activate this Skill, the next attack of your Allies inflict "Burning", Justice will be disabled for 30 seconds then.

Weaponlist

*Main-Hand: Scepter, Mace, Sword
* Off-Hand: Focus, Torch, Shield
* Twohanded: Greatsword, Staff, Hammer

Did you guys read.. *trying to breath* ...

OnlineWelten: Is it possible to have multiple spirit weapons activated simultaneously?

Jon: Yes, you can have up to three activated if you slot three spirit weapon utilities.

That's pretty darn awesome if you ask me!

what i don't get is why anet isn't revealing the class already.. they're talkin about these virtues and aegis and all that awesome stuff, and we don't really have an idea of what that stuff is exactly. :(

Well virtues are signet like Guardian special resources.
They have a passive effect. (Burning, health boon and block proc every 30 sec) and a party wise active effect which will disable the passive effect for 2 minutes if used.

Jon: There are currently two forms of wards on the guardian: a line that forces enemies to move around it and a circle which keeps enemies outside, and sometimes inside of it.

talk about traping enemies and then bombarding them... seems like the guardian elementalist combo will be popular

Because it's 6 AM in Bellevue. Arenanet won't even be in the offices until 9 AM.

That explains why the hammer took down the big creature in one hit in the video we saw .
You can unleash it and deal powerful dmg but then it vanishes .
Seems so cool :) .

Wow, this profession sounds really cool. I really like the ward system, sounds unique. It's a shame we won't get to see it in action.

This is interesting:

Quote

OnlineWelten: Is the guardian able to use defensive Spirit weapons in order to protect an ally? Can he, for example, conjure a defensive Shield which will cover a certain ally from incoming damage?

Jon: There are no ally targeted skills in Guild Wars 2.

That wasn't a ward, though. That was Shield of Deflection, methinks.

Anyone notice tho that the first hit the Spirit Hammer did in the video knocked back 3 enemies? Looks like Spirit Weapon Guardians are going to be quite powerfull, especially if u can have 3 of them. I wonder how many different types of spirit weapons there are going to be.

Anyone else reminded of temporary Necromancer minions? Use the ability to summon, they fight on their own, use the ability again to unleash their special ability which also makes them go away? Almost the same mechanics, just temporary and with a spirit weapon model.

Yeah. Izzy tweeted a while back there were no real good ways to target allies. Guess that confirms it.

as its procc cannot be controlled by the player, it will rather often block a minor enemy attack instead of a strategically important one.

I thought I read somewhere that GW2 won't have auto-attacks, meaning there are no "minor enemy attacks." Am I thinking of a different MMO?

But iirc then wouldn't courage be quite amazing blocking 7% of your opponent's offensive skills?

You can right click on a skill to set it as "autoattack".
The first slot skill has a low cooldown.

GW1 had an attack you can use without a skill.
Swinging a sword, shooting these little orbs with a wand etc.

That's what they removed!

I wonder if there might be an elite ward, where you activate the skill, run to anypoint, creating a wall behind you, then after a few seconds it stops, and stays there for a bit.

This really makes me sad. Really hoped you could be smashing one target while using the summoned hammer to knock down the foe currently attacking that almost dead ally over there, so he can escape. But guess I'll just have to choose between letting my ally die or get smashed in the back while trying to save him. Great support! :p

Do the following:

1. Attack the mob you want.
2. While attacking, target the enemy attacking the ally. Use hammer skill to do knockdown.
3. Target mob you want again and continue fighting.

Practice, should end up costing you about 2-4 seconds at most. Wonder if there's going to be a "target last target" command, would make this even easier.

The spawned weapons act similar to a defensive pet. They will defend you if you are attacked and they will attack what you attack. When you command them with their special skill you can pick the target they use it on by using the command skill on that target.

*small happy dance* Ok so we can at least know down (or whatever the special skill may be) a different foe :)

And the reason I adressed this is not because I don't know how to quickly switch target, but I believe you get more damage when smashed in the back?
