Will there be a subscription fee for Guild Wars 2?

Nope. Like the original Guild Wars, there will be no subscription fee for Guild Wars 2. You just buy the game and play it online without paying a monthly fee.

Can I play it FOREVER after I buy it?

and the most important:

Will It Have Cash Shop aka Item Shop aka Item Mall?

Yes you can play it forever (well, as long as the servers are still up) after you buy it, no subscription fee at all - Like GW1. However, if expansions release you will most likely have to buy them to play the content. :D

A "cash shop" is a debated topic, but Anet have stated anything in the cash shop will not effects the gameplay whatsoever. Aka, no high level loot - The only things that will be sold (that we know off) are cosmetic items, such as Transmution Stones... and dungeons. But al of this is subject to change though.

There's also been a lot of speculation about being able to buy more character slots like in GW1.

Also, if they came out with expansions, you would need to purchase those as well.

The ability to buy character slots is pretty much a given. Take a look at what is for sale for GW1 in the ingame shop:

http://wiki.guildwar...ki/Ingame_store

And, yes, you can play GW2 after you've bought it as long as the servers are up, or until the worlds implodes, whichever comes first.

Well, this being Q&A we can't really give an answer on speculation now can we ;)

And yea, I'll add the bit about the expansions. :D

You can play it forever once you buy it until either the servers are taken down, or the world ends.  Whichever comes 1st.

There will be an Item Shop which you will be able to purchase name changes, appearance changes, gender changes, character slots, special dyes, transmutation stones, etc. from.

Nope, they only said they might do it if there's demand for it, if I recall correctly.

No, they talked about what they would add post-release,and they mentioned more dungeons as a possibility if there was demand for it.  Not as a cash shop item, just a regular added content

And IIRC the general Guru demand was for the GW1 campaign style expansions and not individual dungeons because it would split the community too widely.

I doubt there will be dungeons in the cash shop.

I've googled it. It seems they were talking about adding it as a cash shop item if there was demand for it:

Quote

We asked Flannum point blank if they would be releasing more dungeons post-launch that would be purchased as microtransaction purchases. Flannum confirmed to us that they’re definitely open to the idea–and more. “Yeah, we’re going to look at what the demand is. Look at what players want more of and we’re going have to release that stuff, because that’s the stuff that players are going to be willing to pay for, and that’s the stuff that’s going to make our company profitable.”

Yes, the game will feature an item shop. The shop won't be like ones in asian games, where those who buy get to be stronger, but rather filled with purely cosmetical items aka makeup packs, costumes and charecter name changes.Source

Once you buy the game you can play it forever without having to pay again.

the "Cash Shop" will exist but will not sell all items. Mostly stuff that focuses on appearance e.g. costumes

Thing is, it doesn't seem like they were ever seriously considering it.  It was just the question that was asked of them.  And then the moron PC gamer author decided to title the article originally "GW2 to have microtransation dungeons" which caused a big uproar.  I'd doubt they'd have it.

Look at it this way animefan, GW2 will not have a fee.  Nor will it nickel and dime you like most cash shops.  It will likely be like GW1.  I have personally played GW1 for about 6 years, and have never spent any money on the ingame store.  It's just not needed for anything.  Don't let that scare you away thinking "oh great, I gotta spend money to get the coolest armor or updates" like in other games.

Once you buy the game you can play it for as long as you want, as much as you want at no extra charge.

There WILL be an item shop of some sort, although Anet has said they will NOT be selling any items that affect balance. Most of the items sold will likely be vanity items.

I'm guessing you weren't a GW player.  It's going to be very similar to that but probably have more items available for GW2 from the start (the store for GW was added post-launch and they have added things over the years).  If you bought Guild Wars on launch day nearly six years ago you could still be playing the Prophesies portion of it today without having spent another penny.

This is what's in GW "ingame store" as of right now for an example:

When they say cash shop they won't have anything that sells in-game items which provide huge benefits, (e.g. +100000 sword of killing etc), everything in there is either cosmetic or possibly convenience.

lastly, yes after you buy the game you can play it indefinitely like GW1

Dungeons were brought up in a poorly written interview. The author stated, "Dungeons might be a cash shop," but it was written in a way that it seemed like ArenaNet said it.

ArenaNet did back up the article by saying, "Dungeons ARE NOT cash shop."

The author apologized for the misinterpretation.

B2P model is like any other game you would commonly buy (let's say Team Fortress 2, because of it's newly added shop- okay not so new, but let's go with it).

You buy it, and you own it. There is no additional fee. You do not pay monthly. Your are not forced to buy things from their in-game shop, they do not affect the overall gameplay (and balancing) as that we know (For TF2 reference yes, sadly some hats do have bonuses... :/).

I'm afraid that the costumes and dyes will give bonuses like in Luna Online
for example a costume gives +250 hp +5int and +5 wisdom
I'll try it after the reviews of the item shop.

GW1 have costumes and they give no advantage. Just visual. Dyes just change the color of your armor.

Seriously people, have faith in A-net, or if you can't, then at least check the way they have handled stuff in GW1...

Well, the ones in GW1 didn't...

Seriously, Anet has, within the scope of GW1, kept the items available for cash to a minimum effect on the game balance.

-Costumes fit OVER the armor and are purely cosmetic.
-additional storage panels and
-additional character slots at worst give you a tiny advantage in trading due to being able to store a bit more stuff
-skill unlock packs are only an advantage if you want it ALL - to achieve the same effect of having ALL skills unlocked, you'd need a lot of work - but to unlock the 8 desired skills that you'll actually USE for your build takes little time, even for several builds
-pet unlock packs may save you some work, but in the end are cosmetic, since levelling up a single pet will get you the same effect
-preorder&co items are nice to look at, but generally don't have the best stats

See a pattern here? I expect Anet to offer a lot of stuff in the store, but not in a direct "power for money" way.

ArenaNet stated multiple times that nothing in the cash shop will give you an actual gameplay advantage.
