Why is it that in every freaking article A.Net seems desperate to not use 'He' (which is also used as a genderless term in English) and always opts for 'She'.

We get it, you want people to accept that women can be important too - but you're laying it on a little thick guys. Urgh.

Uh, I don't think he is genderless in English, you may be thinking of Spanish.

It is used as a genderless term, indeed. Because we have no subjective genderless term - only an objective one (it).

I'm not saying that 'he' is genderless all the time, that would be ludicrous.

Perhaps the person writing it is a she.

Good article and info.

Love the Norns outlook on life.

Instead of being beaten down by an elder dragon they are waiting for the day they can fight back and reclaim their homeland.

Well yeah Ree does a lot of the Gw2 lore as far as i'm aware. So I suppose its possible its her. Dont get me wrong, theres nothing wrong with it. I'm all for equality with men and women and getting rid of the stereotype that its always men who are the Warriors and stuff, but when its every time I find it pretty distracting.

Rofl. Creepers in mah Gw2? I wouldnt say no.

So does your irritation towards the use of 'she' in favour of 'he' mean you think females are inferior? I did not notice the strong use of 'she' instead of 'he' at all to be honest. Nor do I think it matters at all.

OT:
Liked the screenshot of the statues of the Spirits of the Wild in the video a lot!

No, "they" in singular form is a genderless term.

Example: The norn went hunting, then they cooked the meat.

If I said: The norn went hunting, then he cooked the meat., then the norn is obviously a guy, not genderless.

But you can't call the Norn "it" either. So it's either he or she. You always pick a side. He is the common choice when gender isn't specified.

Or the fact that Eir is in the header image they might be referencing it to her? I know it says "warrior" but it is often a generic term, not always meaning the profession.

"They" can be used to describe one person, which I just displayed. it's not he/she/it, it's he/she/they.

I'm not up for a big discussion on this. What you mention here is a big subject. .

But thats irrelevant, what you mention here does not mean that 'he' is not a genderless term. It is often used as the genderless term.

Edit:
Thanks woutman. I suggest, Ramun, you read the link I provided.

Only when the person is part of a group.

It doesn't work in the sentence "A Norn went out hunting, then they cooked the meat."

But I'm derailing the thread, so let's agree to disagree.

Oh man, the environments here look beautiful.

Except for that freakin' bear pet. It's so dang round and shiny, I continue to hate it.
