I have not heard of any form of refund system for attributes. Has anyone heard anything about this? Would be cool to be completely worry free. It would mean that refunds would be very simple and could be changed a lot without going from 50 silver and end up being hours worth of gold like in WoW.

Your decision should matter and not be changed all the time. I just don't want the game to be out 4 years and they finally do the diablo thing making a refund quest.. I think the way in diablo 2 is too controlling: 1 refund for easy, 2 for nightmare, 3 for hell, then your characters stays forever.

Meant to label the name of this thread  GW2 Attribute Refund Discussion

As for the topic itself, are you talking about an in game money system to redistribute attribute points on a character? Cause that is what it sounds like to me.

I think he is talking about getting back spent attribute points, which I believe was stated to be easily possible way back when. Whether it still applies now though remains to be seen (although I sort of expect it, what with it being a key aspect of gw1 and fitting in with their stated aims)

I think you're asking whether you can get back your attribute points? If so, you can:

It will be easy to reinvest attribute points

We don't know anything specific, but yes - you will be able to revert them if you make a mistake or want to change your class specifics.

Oh, about that, it's completely free and you can do it whenever you're out of combat, mister ^_^

We don't know this.
We may speculate this, but all we know is that it will be 'easy'.

We do have the example of GW1 to draw on however. Originally the attributes were locked and from what I've heard of such times you did have to buy your attributes back, or use some kind of weird token system - never really gotten a good understanding of such dark times.

However early on they went to the system they have now, where you can freely go back and easily hit a few buttons to move your attribute points around as is your wont. While we can't definitively say what the attribute system in GW2 is like, I sincerely doubt they would quite literally take a step backwards on an issue they addressed many years ago. It's the kind of mindset that I just don't see changing.

Indeed, and since we're still quite a way out and with only a shell of information to work with, it's fair to use what data we do have and sprinkle with comparisons and examples from GW1.
But this is Q&A. It's best to be careful about speculation sounding like fact.

You will be able to re-do your attribute as often and as much as you want whenever you want.  it will be necessary to do so with all the different weapons that each profession can wield.  There will be no costs associated with it.  no worries ;)

There has been nothing said on the refund system for attributes aside from what was revealed in the following interview:

http://www.tentonham...terviews/traits

All Eric says about refunding attributes is:

Quote

Eric: Players can still adjust their attributes. A character is given attribute points each time they level and players can assign them as they see fit. These attributes are much more like traditional RPG attributes and are shared among all professions. Respeccing attributes will of course be very easy to do.

No mention of how or when you will be able to do it. It might very well be that you can only adjust your attributes after paying a fee to a certain NPC instead of anytime out of combat.

i can imagine this ranging from spending a few coins to using some kind of items (which can be found in-game) to reallocate the points.

idk, "plain free" might just be a bit too convenient...

It isn't, really. ArenaNet wishes for a great freedom when it comes to customizing your build, and in general experiment with all the available choices you have at display.

I can imagine that it's just on click of that icon up above the attributes pane.

Personally I hope attributes in GW2 are like GW1 attributes where you can simply swap them around while in town.  This makes it easier by far for a player to build their character to fit the player's style of combat.

Lets just hope there aren't many of the 'if you don't spend it here you can't play' type of players.  I know they'll be out there, but lets hope there aren't a lot of them.
