I've been blown away by the superb GW2 trailer. Animated art is incredibly superior to CG and shows the wonders the Anet art team can do.

But there's this amazing moment where they transition from art to gameplay and it feels beautiful. The gameplay also looks more flowing than GW1, ofc we can't really polygons. Beautiful colors.

This trailer reminds me of the ones for the last Prince of Persia, which is itself amazing. Your thoughts?

I'm loving Asura and Sylvari. I didn't expect little Asuras to look so damn cool and cute at the same time. It's gonna be hard choosing which character to make first when I get my hands on GW2! The trailer was huge and packed with both gameplay and CGI, I didn't expect to see this much! Made my day.

Btw. Good job with the new forums.

Exactly what i thought. It is amazingly animated and delivers story and feeling much better than CG ever could.

Shame they did not realize this earlier ... i.e. when they decided to ax nightfall cinematic.

I really liked it aswell. It didn't blow my mind, but it could've been a lot worse, so I'm happy. Looked like some of the human characters had almost the same type armors as in GW1, although you can't really tell.

Was pretty damn amazing IMO. Those last seconds (the charr) looked great, as did that fiery weapon one of the charr was holding somewhere in the trailer.

It looks like they can finally do the concept art the kind of justice it deserves.

It's not just you, that was also what I thought. He looks kinda gay, but then again you can find strange faces on all characters in GW1 as well.

I really like the armor on the warrior below, a vast improvement on the armors offered in GW1:

Looks just like GW1, except slightly prettier.

They'd better improve the graphics, at the moment they're pretty bleh.

I absolutely LOVE the trailer! I was shocked when I noticed how tiny the ears on the asura are though... :(

Yeah, I didn't wanna be the one to throw water on the fire but I felt like they hadn't really improved the graphics at all, like it was just a massive expansion pack.

Just a few notes about the trailer:
  • It was played and recorded in real-time at true 1080p HD resolution, not scaled up artificially.
  • The animated lore part of the video is produced at 1080p resolution from the ground up. All assets are created at true 1080p resolution.
  • The animated, pre-rendered lore intro portion of the video was done completely in-house. This was not contracted out to a specialty studio that produces high-end pre-rendered videos. All of the illustrations, animation, editing, and rendering was done at ArenaNet.
  • The in-game part of the video is actual in-game footage. It was rendered in real-time in the game engine and recoded live using video capture hardware. Nothing was pre-rendered. All models, textures, and other assets are actual game play versions. They haven't been prettied up for marketing purposes.
  • Maps are works in progress, and may change to better fit game play.
  • The team is working hard to make the game even more beautiful for the full release. :)

I honestly wasnt expecting any In Game but Anet pulled it off...I have to agree by saying that the Animated Art was superb...I believe it leaves a greater impression on the viewer...The last part was awesome.

You know, I'm really happy they gave the Concept Art so much attention in a way.  I mean they have some amazing artists there... and usually Concept Art is just this byproduct and not really a focus for a Trailer or even after a game is released.  So I thought that was very well done.

My favourite moment was the bit where the Sylvari animates the wood golem. That looked cool and would make a fun an interesting skill in game.
