Comic-Con - 20-24 July 2011: We'll be visiting this mecca for all things pop cultural in San Diego, California, North America this year. More details to come!

Gamescom - 17-21 August 2011: Europe's largest game show in beautiful Cologne, Germany, is definitely on our list. We'll have a demo build of Guild Wars 2, plenty of devs on hand to meet fans and answer questions, and some cool surprises.

PAX - 26-28 August 2011: There's no way we'd miss PAX Prime, a legendary three-day gaming festival in Seattle, Washington, North America. We've got big plans for this year's PAX, so stay tuned!

Just got this in the mail, I bet most of you already knew the thief part :p

I got one too. Still "demo builds" in August. And I definitely hope we don't have to wait that long for the final 2 profession reveals...

I wonder if they'll have a release date by august? PAX would be a good place to announce it.

That was the first thing I noted as well. There goes all hope for a Q3 release.

Q3 would still be possible even if they had a demo build in August, even if its rather unlikely

lol, me too.

Also, the way the PAX part is put does give off the effect of a release date reveal or something. Maybe even the first day of beta or something.

Nice to get my first ArenaNet email :p

Sort of hoping we'll not be waiting until Comic Con (July) for the next profession reveal, as I know the conventions are generally good times for new reveals.

Heck my girlfriend just moved to germany so now I have no excuse to visit Gamescom! Do u know if there will be any englishspeaking devs?

The video where a person from arenanet played theif in front of a crowd on pax east blew me away!

Well, definitely we are having a new profession at Gamescom. Maybe 2 ^^

Indeed. The "BIG PLANS" part sounds very suspicious to me too. :D

PD: Note for mods, the button commands on the advanced post settings don't work. I've tried in 2 different computers.

If I remember right, there were quite a few english-speakers last Gamescom...some of the demonstrations were done in german and some in english. It still is my favourite convention yet, as far as overall publicity went.

So, again no E3 at all this year?

Also:
- still demo builds till end of August
- don't expect a release date or open beta date before PAX Prime

Probably:
- pvp demo at gamescom (there must be some pvp before summer conventions are over and pax prime will have same demo as gamescom since it's so close to each other)
-next to pvp showcase i expect organized dungeons in the last demo and the 2 remaining professions together with the 2 remaining races and underwater combat

PAX Prime could announce the open beta. The next big convention after PAX Prime would be PAX East again and that's March 2012. I expect the game to be released by then. It would all fit for a late 2011 release.

But if that's the case, we should be getting some more info on underwater combat, asura, sylvari, pvp, wvwvw & the last 2 professions before gamescom.

Using a build that is probably outdated by 8 months? No I don't believe so.

GamesCom will be like +/- 6 months after PAX East and I'm sure that even during PAX East the build used for the demo was behind their internal builds (ofc. they want to show stable demo's).

I don't know though for the ComicCon... but I'm convinced that GamesCom will have a new one (and PAX Prime the same one as GamesCom one).

It will probably be the a new build with all professions. It would make sense.
(Speculation, do not shoot me.)

Glad I got the email too, cannot wait for all these events!

Expecting to see at least, but hopefully the last two professions being revealed and playable on the next demo build, plus finally showing the asura and sylvari. With the surprise being beta/release date announcements.^^
That would be a best case scenario... I guess they'll keep it down to only 1 new profession and 1 new race, and keeping the last one and beta/release for 2012...

That would be a way to slow progress for many people following the game.

They have to work towards the release with a climax. And open with a big bang. Going for open beta after (or during) those conventions would be exactly what we call a climax worthy for this game.

Also, one thing I've just noticed - at the bottom of message there is a PEGI rating and it says 12. I don't know if it's a direct GW2 clasification or just general logo, but first option seems more likely for me. So if the game is already rated, that's another sign that leads to 'sooner than later' release.

Doesn't have to be a release date announcement. It could also be something like a live playable Worlds vs World demo... that would be pretty 'big' :)

While that would also be nice, do not ruin our fun.
