There has been another new article on GW2 posted today, Holy crap 7 pages:

This preview is a compilation of old news(2007) and more recent ones(2009), read carefully as it contains some cancelled facts, though the site has now updated their preview which has deleted some of the wrong facts.

http://news.mmosite....3028808,1.shtml

- another mention of the Havok Engine
- a similar system to the 8-skill system will be used
- Primary and Secondary profession system
- climbing trees?
- Rewards scaled on wether you use companion or not

Some weird mention:
- Different effects while jumping? <- I tought Anet said this wasn't in?

Edit: screenshot mentioned in this thread is deleted because it's an old one.

Yeah it's just summarizing the info that we know.

It also made a few mistakes (including the one you pointed out ;)).

Quote

Guild Wars 2 is trying to deal with that issue by using a system with a high level cap once that could be set to 100 or even boundless.

There'll be a level cap.

Quote

There will be fewer, less complex skills which may behave differently in different situations, such as if the character is jumping or is surrounded by monsters.

It's been confirmed that jumping will not have an effect on a skill.

Quote

Little is known about the newest race, the sylvari.

Wrong; as per some comments on the wiki, we know more about the sylvari than the asura & norn. (I know, this isn't a really bad mistake. :P)

Mehh. Thought ArenaNet scratched this? ;o

Come on, even ArenaNet themselves call them 'a young, mysterious race about which not a lot is known', or something like that xD.

I think this interview is just a scrapped together piece of work, meaning 2007 interviews+2009 interviews etc,

I stopped reading when it said Secondary professions is confirmed.

Unless they have info nobody else does they shouldn't be making this crap up.

And if they do have new info, maybe a citation or two would be nice?

Recommendation: DO NOT READ. With a mixture of old info proven wrong, and made up info, this is possibly the worst article on GW2 I have read.

Isn't that just a still from the trailer? Believed to be the Iron Citadel of the Charr.

EDIT: Gah! They took and pasted my Thread on there. Oh, well, at least I got credit.....

Yes, most of the "info" is based on Movement of the World. Sigh....

I hate having my name attached to this drek.

like the ability for your characters to do things like jump, swim, even climb trees
Don't think climbing trees has been mentioned before. Anyways it's cool we'll be able to do it :)

Beside from that, there wasn't anything new. However it was a lot of information taken from other interviews and put into once place. So it's good for people that are too lazy to find and read all other interviews.

Old info? Hasn't Anet stated that they rejected this idea because of... ehh... something, don't remember. But I think something in line with "too complex for our vision" or something.

http://photo.mmosite....j000grk2.shtml I'm pretty sure it's a screenie from the trailer.

Yeah, they scrapped the whole 'jumping while using skill x' etc. mechanic due to latency issues....or so someone said else where on these forums.

Well, it's cool to be cited at least. :p

Plus, if they remove that, then the article is totally worthless.....

I edited my first post a bit to warn the people reading the interview, I think that will help.
The interview is nice to get an idea, but you need to pay caution.

They made more mistakes then what you folks mentioned so far:

Quote

There will be a plateau of power, where each level no longer adds as much to the power of the character
Obviously not and it would be pointless since there will be a level cap anyway.

Quote

The sidekicking system, similar to that used in "City of Heroes", will be be introduced allowing high-level characters to transfer their powers to lower-level characters
Wtf should the bold even mean? You dont "transfer" your power to a lower level character if you use him as sidekick. They just contradicted themselfs. Its so obvious that they never actually played City Of Heroes.

Quote

will also reduce the overall number of game modes to reduce balancing complexity.
Devs never mentioned this anywhere. We dont know how many modes will the game have.

Quote

instanced events can have domino effects on other parts of the world, or zone.
There will be no such thing as an event in an instance in gw2.

Quote

All PvP-participants will have access to the same skills and gear
Wrong again. Only structured pvp participants will have access to the same skills and gear, NOT world pvp ones.

It hasn't been confirmed that there is a firm level cap, only inference from the community based on the language used in the FAQ and recent interviews. The FAQ is hazy at best, the solo section is a good example.

I think you are quibbling over a nothing. The sidesick system has always been compared to the City of heroes one, and no I haven't played CoH, but the idea that there is a temporary transfer of power doesn't seem incorrect to me.

domicro said:

Recent Kill Ten Rats Guild Wars interview. There is a thread here about it somewhere

domicro said:

These ones I can agree are incorrect.

I think they got their information off wikipedia and the gww guild wars 2 page (the later of which is now a little out of date).

-- edit --
I've actually read the article now. What a messed up copy, paste and pulp of various secondhand sources. They barely even tried to group the first page of information coherently. I read the article and squirm because I'm reading stuff I've written for gw2w and wikipedia butchered and passed off as a unique take on the situation.

Don't be so down on everything!! At least somebody has tried to gather the information together and present it in an easily digestible format. If more people hear about GW2 from this then great!

You guys can try to help him correct errors, like Shew and Mordakai have done without being negative.

Not everybody likes to come here and trudge through all the threads for info (possibly because of the negativity and quibbling ???). Plus it does plug GW2G, so people who become interested can come here for the latest up to date info! (Coz we never get anything wrong ...... do we? :p)

They put up a nice message on the first page thanking you all for the inaccuracies you pointed out, so hopefully they should be corrected now.
Got a question? Feel free to drop me a PM.

Thanks so much JR, didn't know you were involved with this!

Sorry for the overly negative tone in my posts.... :surprised:

Can Anet please tell us if we can SOLO without NPC? or not. One tranlated Report said we cant solo without NPC, but the old News things said we can. So which is it?

As I recall, you only inferred that we cannot solo without NPCs, nowhere was this directly stated. With this, there is no conflicting information, the new data only shows that Alesia the run into mobs to rez queen and Devonna and her might hammer will have babies with someone and those babies will be our wonderful little band of backup heroes.

Devona will have had babies with her mighty hammer,...? You sick, sick man,... ;o.

Either way, yeh, I can't really approve of this article,... Pretty much a sum-up of things we already know and some old stuff that didn't make the cut to actually be implemented.
Still though; yes, Mordakai, you were a bit rude xD.

Mordakai, you gave them the original Prophecies map...

None of the GWEN areas are exposed on that map...See if you can get back with them again so we can further express the size of Tyria

Disclaimer: The Map was not in my original thread. In fact, none of those images are "mine", as I only "steal" images posted by others....

Just the text is mine (except where I quoted another source, then it says "coming" in the article.)

Here's my original thread they took the info from so you can compare:

Ah ok, I think they gave the map credit to you, that's why i specifically asked you.

Anyway, thanks for clearing things up for them, many articles on that site are crap *even the subscribers agree, lol* They're calling the GW2 article the best on the site, so it's good to get pubilicity like that :)

Oh crap im stupid, i pressed quote instead of reply, sorry for douple post MODS...
