An interesting little find in a review (by a site called Koalition) of the d'artiste art book showcasing artists including Kekai Kotaki of Guild Wars fame:
http://www.thekoalit...-design-review/

They have licence to show a page, and on it Kekai praises a piece of art by Donald Phan of Anet that is titled "Guild Wars 2: Voodoo" and referred to as a "character concept".

Spoiler

My own guess is that it's a NPC concept, or a profession candidate that was dropped along the way. :)

Very nice though - hope it turns up as a scholar armor set!

yup, a nice style. would fit for a magic class, like a shaman, which uses magic in melee range, like a herold of xotli in age of conan, and at range, like a elemental shaman.

would prolly work for a  profession which fights without weapons, like the monk in neverwinter nights, or a capoeira-stlye profession, too.

Or it's NPC necro armour.

Isn't all NPC armor available to players? I think I read that somewhere.

This Voodoo guy is damn awesome. I hope this might offer the sort of otherworldly-spirit-something kind of magic I've so very much been hoping for...

What if the Mesmer comes back as a Voodoo doctor! *gasp* The plot thickens.

It could take spirits from the Ritualist and Domination and Illusion from the Mesmer. The armor doesn't really fit with the other classes though....

Haha :D

I kind of hope that this isn't a profession because it seems too similar to a necromancer...

I could totally see them doing a "witch doctor/voodoo" Diablo 3 profession. That would be cool. :)

Yes please.
D3's Witch Doctor is MILES above GW2's Necro so this would be to die for.

I think this Vodoo shares many traits with the Necromancer, so I wouldn't get your hopes too high.

from mesmer to voodoo it's more like going back 250 years.
the design is too tribal to be associated with any pistols/guns.

the voodoo would be cool as an npc on a isolated island.

The D3 Witch Doctor seems to have a lot of skills centered around dumbfire and swarm pets, but there's definitely some similarities between this and GW2 Necro.

as a playable profession the witch doctor has his ideal place, it's called Diablo 3 ;]     (and i can't wait to try it out)

I don't see any particular thing on the Voodoo guy, but the center character reminds me a lot to the left silhouette...

Yes you are correct, and because the other 2 pieces of art are called Manne and cursed cleric the "gunner" is called Manne, and the Guardian is a name that replaced cleric.

It is just art.

I'll laugh so hard if Voodoo replaces Mesmer! Not because I prefer Voodoo, but because of how all the Mesmer fanboys will react :D

Aside from the mask it actually reminds me of Ritualist armor.

Also, in case anyone missed it, the other two images are not related to Guild Wars.

looks like the pre designs of the ritualist.

but it think it is what they plan for the next profession

maybe the artificier might be the 3rd adventurer-i have no problem with it and it relates to inventions!

Yeah, it's heavy ritualist style - those paintings and seashells. We've seen plenty of those in GW1 so actually I'm not sure where all the excitement comes from :P

Anyway.
Spoiler
There's a voodoo doll among trait backrounds and its color implies necromancer.

Now that you bring it up, I wonder who uses the explorer background in the top right.
