So anyone bought the new printed buffed issue from today and wants to share some infos with us :) ?

*Mod Edit: Thanks to Myramar for this translated summary:

Myramar said:

Attention: this is a 2nd source translation. I didnt read the article, i just translated this from someone who did. I cant guarantee wether the truth content of this informations or that my translation is valid.

I will try to translate the short summary a person from the GW2Onlinewelten Froum gave us there (buffed magazine):

1. The character creator will be similar to the one from Aion, but there will be restrictions so that you can't create too improportional or ugly chars.

2. There is a Jungle-Dungeon/Instance: The buffed ppl werent able to play that instance, but they got a fly-trough without any mobs. The jungle instance is at an unknow location and it is not a dungeon but rather an instanced area (heaven is visible).

3. A cross profession combo example was given: Guardians symbol of wrath with thief shooting trough it.

4. Attack "Marks" for aoe-skills: allied spell what heals you will be marked blue on the ground, enemy dmg spell will be marked red on the ground while enemy healing areas and allied attack/dmg skills are marked white on the ground.

5. They referred a minigame, the kegbrawl one we know already about.

6. There will be no housing like features in the personal instance. Instead, the personal instance will change automatically if you do something relevant ingame, so if you kill a dragon, you will maybe get a dragons-head trophy that will be showed in your home instance.

7. There is an interview with Eric Flannum and Mattew Moore. They said there will be new events and free content implemented for free (what makes sense, no?), and the shop will sell things that are similar to those we know from the GW1 store.

8. they played an lvl 27 Ranger, they did the Pirate-burning-a-village-down event and it was not that easy. they followed those pirates and reached the pirate-base. there was a building with an inactive asuran golem, they were able to activate that golem so it helped to fight with them.

9. in underwater combat, there will be no fireballs, pistols and Birds (Ranger Pets, Ranger-Warhorn-Skill), as we know already about. (see underwater weapons)

10.
Q: "will there "Guild Wars" in Guild Wars 2?
A: "Kind of. In WvWvW Guilds will have the possibility to capture positions and to hoist up there their banners.
You will also be able to hunt down guild-members of guilds that you never liked. (idk i think that is in WvWvW also)

11 nothing more new. they played a norn guardian and they have seen the green markers on the personal story npcs, they wondered about that because the "no quest markers" thing, already an usual misunderstanding.

12
The buffed ppl are hoping that they can bring infos about WvWvW battles, Asura, the remaining profession, and an instance next month. (maybe we will get infos about those features or content, maybe that are just hopes...)

Yeah, I need more information on this.
So pistols are a no-go but rifles are a go-go? And what does that mean for engineers or thieves with their insanely limited weapon-selection?

means they'll probably get some under-water only weapons to pick up the slack

Pretty much what I expected! :) Asura and PvP during the summer conventions! Instance?! I REALLY can't wait to see what the dungeons are like. Gonna be a good summer!

No new info then. As for the jungle instance, it could be a dungeon ; IIRC all dungeons in GW2 aren't underground.

so we can expect it to be huge, that's the only reason i can think of not to use the dungeon format but rather the instanced area, but then again a jungle needs to be in open space with a sky.

Nothing mind bogglingly new or noteworthy, but there is quite a bit of stuff here that is fun to note.

The guardian symbol/pistol thing sounds interesting, prolly a much whiter version of the fire wall/arrow thing.

thats what i also thought first.
Im still hoping we will finally get some informations about that guild system and i want finally know that there will be gvg or not.
It seems like that guilds will be able to reach some goals in WvWvW (because they offer structured and organzied groups), and they can form some groups in structured pvp, but idk about what will be part of structured pvp. maybe its just an arena system and we wont get gvg, but the possibility to form up teams.

I get that they are saying that it is a hope, but that seems a little specific, and would fit the timeline for race week and profession reveals.

I think it's either been said, or at least heavily implied, that there are separate weapons for underwater combat, instead of merely using the normal weapons. Martin mentioned a harpoon gun in an interview. Engineers are going to be the biggest concern here, because most of their actual weapons are skills.

It sounds to me that they either have an idea on what's coming, or they have another interview scheduled sometime next month already and they're just listing what they hope to have.

9. in underwater combat, there will be no fireballs, pistols and Birds (Ranger Pets, Ranger-Warhorn)

The first kind of bums me out, does that mean we can't decorate our houses ourselves?
And am I reading this right? In underwater combat it's just the birds(from the warhorn) and not all of the rangers pets that can't be used?

as far as i know, there are amphibic, terrestial and aquatic pets.
Birds are terrestrial pets, so they cant be used underwater (also spiders), and aquatic pets cant be used on land (such as the jellyfish, shark and so far), while amphibic pets can be used in both, land and water (such as the bear, the dog, Wolf, Salamander and so far)
That there will be no birds, means to me that there will be no warhorns available underwater, because there is a ranger warhorn skill that summons birds. That referrs totally to the aquatic weapon thing: we will get different weapons to use underwater what gives us different skills (weapon skills), such as a harpoon, a spear, a trident or somewhat similar.

the housing thing, i think that means that the personal instance will change and show you your character developement and your personal story, but you can't decide to put a couch in the corner or put some flowers on the table. You can't decorate anything there, all what happen is that there will be changes because you decided to save a merchant, so that merchant will come in your instance, for example. Or you will save the hospital, so that will remain there while the other building is burned down. That are, as far as i know, the only decisions you can make.

also i got a news update: about the ingame mail system: there is an ingame mail system, you dont need to go to a mailbox to recieve mail. You can gain your mail everywhere.

Maybe the jungle area is a sylvari or asuran starting instance? If they're doing a new demo for the upcoming conventions they might be introducing another starting experience. Perhaps 'heaven' is related to the Dream of Dreams?

Also: Asura AND the mesmer?:D:eek::D:D

I'll finally be able to see how my main might look and play hehe.

We've already seen underwater weapons having their own slots, so it shouldn't be a big surprise you won't see fireballs or birds underwater. :p

They said the sky is visible, it's a translation error. The German language uses the same word for heaven and sky ("Himmel").

We've had hints about no GvG for a while, vindicating to hear further confirmation. When they said "tournament play" they really meant "tournament play," not something else.

This interview seems to confirm what we were already suspecting. The death of GvG as a format.

There will obviously still be pvp guilds, but that will just be to have a convenient interface to interact with other team members.

Not really sure about the decision to remove GvG. It seems contrary to the entire theme of the game title.

Still, stoked about the stuff that seems to be on the horizon for next month!

This! Gosh ... ok. :(

Darn ... and here many of us were hoping that we would actually have a house inside our home instance ...

Quote

Ree Soesbee: Your home instance (which consists of an area about the size of a city block, within your character's racial city, where you have the racial equivalent of a house – a lab, for the asura, for example – several streets, some merchant's areas, and other city-like things) ... LINK

... now I know the idea of decorating one's house etc. was speculative on our part, however some of us at least thought we would have some kind of house with perhaps some features that might be customised, even if just in a small way. Now it seems we're not getting any dwelling of any kind inside our home instance. Strange.

Since this topic has come up so many times (we even have a 160 post thread about it, multiple Q&A's and apparently some photographs as well ... and I'm not even mentioning the numerous threads on other forums and even whole articles about it in on-line press), I would have thought someone from ArenaNet would have crushed any misunderstandings, especially those connecting to an article with staff from ArenaNet being interviewed ... most especially, Ree Soesbee. I mean those words in my quote above are pretty damn specific. I even contacted Rubi about it and she confirmed that those words were Ree's, verbatim.

Maybe they consider this to be too small for their "wrong-interpretation-radar", but there are some players that consider this to be a very cool feature ... well, what would have been a good feature anyway. Meessa sad ... very sad. :(

Perhaps there'll be something specific to guilds within WvWvW, like it mentions guilds kind of "claiming" outposts in WvWvW, and targeting people from specific other guilds. Perhaps guilds can go to war with each other, but use the different PvP methods to accomplish this...

We'd need actual information regarding what guilds can do to know for sure.

There was an interview a long while ago (perhaps first Gamescom) where I think it was Eric Flannum who said they weren't having housing like you see in other games, and if they were going to do it they wanted to do it right. Obviously things can change, but a customizable housing system I would think would be a pretty big system to get working right and they'd have determined if they were going to do it near the beginning.

Let me see if I can find the video.
