Maybe don't take this as set in stone. Look at the audience, they're talking to investors. It's best to overestimate the time/cost of a project rather than be accurate. Kinda of like in-built redundancy or a fail safe in case something happens which does delay release. That way investors don't feel soured if dividends are late.

Wow, this is unreal. I hope the new game is as fun as the first one was, then it will be worth it. I'm just flabbergasted that they took a popular game and walked away from it and the community for years and years. GW2 is something that should have been going on in the background while GW1 continued to keep pumping out expansions and campaigns. Four-five years of stagnation is not good. Hopefully Anet doesnt go bankrupt before GW2 is released.

I did check that other topic, and I've nowhere seen that anybody stated a cite to this news, only speculation. (Ok well scrap that, but it's still news)
Also, as you can notice, alot of people actually dont know this yet, so I do think it is still "News".

Since I was the one who originally brought it up.... But I guess people only read thread titles ;)

Anyway, in the other thread it was already discussed and the general conclusion was that is says nothing. It can mean that the game isn't coming out in 2010. It can also mean NCsoft is playing it safe, not wanting to disappoint their investors later. It can also mean NCsoft has as much information as we do and is just guessing too.

I expect this is just something to keep investors from panic. Investors are often a skittish lot with the least sign of "loss" (ie not hitting a projection even if profit is still made) will run for the next money bubble.

I expect to see it in 2010 with 2011 being the buffer. After all, the first motto in design and programming when quoting deadlines, "Take the time you know it can be done and double it. Then take that time and double that just to be safe. It is better to deliver before a deadline than after."

It probably is more than a year away actually. Do not expect a Jan 1 2011 release. It will probably be a spring release like the first GW. Late april/May release. That's a year and a half folks!

Personally, I'm still banking on a late 2010 release as investors will not be pleased with the news of no product releases in 2010.

My prediction: 2010 release with a near finished game that is missing a few advertised features.

Well they have a pre alpha test version that is playable according to the make a wish writeup. Ill expect alpha testing though closed to be going on maybe end of this spring, Closed beta may hit a few months later.

Theyd be smart to hit the public with the game some time in the next 6 months to keep the dropoffs on the game. They said they may be advertising in 2010 2011 so im guessing release projected to spring of 2011 as a last deadline but yes ill agree with Segraine as this may just be a buffer for a deadline for a release date, Im still seeing this thing being released December 2010-february 2011

When they release the gameing mechanics and stuff come 2010 we could probably get a better view on when this thing will be released due to its "finished" qualities.

eh if this is true and NCsoft told anet no GW2 till 2011, NCsoft are offical idiots, Aion is falling apart because of all the Bots and GW is dieing, If there is no GW2 for 1 1/2 or 2 years, Does anyone really think GW will be alive still? Anet can't wait 2 years its that simple.

Hmm, nooo,... That article on Eurogamer points to a Slovenian site. And that Slovenian site doesn't point to GW2Guru either. Even though, we were FIRST! =(.

Good point, they always have make it seam like NCSOFT is makeing GW2 and not Anet, so it seams that something isn't right here.


Also till i see Anet offical post no GW2 till 2011 on http://www.guildwars2.com/en/ i will not believe it.
