We're looking into the video being seen as private by some people as we speak. We'll be back very shortly ^^

EDITED
It looks like the problem fixed itself. It should be working now. If it doesn't, give it a few more minutes and try again.

Working for me.

----

This is what I am looking for in a game. A reason to do something, other than 'that big chest of loot' at the end of a dungeon :)

Sorry about the video problems, everyone. The privacy settings had it listed as public, but for whatever reason, YouTube wanted to keep the video to itself. It should be okay now. If it's not, check back in a couple minutes. Thanks. :)

I know everyone has probably seen it already, but this cinematic is still incredibly awesome!!!

Huge thanks to the people that made it, it looks gorgeous! :D

I'm so happy ArenaNet is going a different direction with the cinematics for Guild Wars 2. They're just so totally cool!

Excellent cinematic (even most of us probably have watched it few hundred times already)! The 3d model looks much better than in previous dialog screens we have seen. I really hope we will see that kind of quality in every "cutscene dialog" (like in the tutorial cutscenes). Please please please? :p

That is so awesome. Years ago the RTS Homeworld used high quality 2D cutscene with animations. It's great to see the evolution of the technique.

One comment. Rytlock and Adelbern are carrying swords that are very similar. Why? It's also the HoM sword.

This video seriously made me reconsider on not rolling a Charr character. Rytlock looks pretty badass, especially from the side view. That aside, the cinematic is absolutely spiffing!

The cinematic is great; I'm extremely fond of the cinematic style GW2 is using, it's both incredibly beautiful and rather unique. It also allows ArenaNet to show us things that they couldn't show otherwise (the Foefire, the armings marching against Zaithan in the first GW2 video, etc).

The only thing that makes me a bit said is that I thought Rytlock was being voiced by Steve Blum. Unless he has managed to modify his voice A LOT, that's not him anymore.

This cinematic is fantastic, really gives the right feeling. Rightfully one of theirs, and everyone's, favorite. Gorgeously well done.

Although the fiery dragon sword is a bit of a disappointment... :(
I got a little disheartened when I saw it.

This is a lore nugget. Rytlock carries Sohothin, the sword that used to belong to Prince Rurik of Ascalon. Rurik's father, King Adelbern wielded Magdaer. These 2 swords are the "iconic" Fiery Dragon Swords in GW1. You can get your own in GW1, and in GW2 it is a HoM reward because for GW1 vets, the sword's unique design and ties to major NPCs are just too much nostalgia to pass up

Also had to throw in my 2 cents: the cinematic is amazing! Its gorgeous, and also a massive improvement on the cinematics shown to us about a year ago. If this is the direction cinematics in the game are moving in, bravo!

Great cinematic ArenaNet. Tell whoever responsible for it to keep up the amazing work, these cinematic's will make the dungeons so much better then they already are.

Quite possible. ArenaNet did mention that they weren't done with the Norn voices yet so it's possible they weren't done with the Charr either. Also have to keep in mind ArenaNet loves redoing things that they don't like (attribute system, zone layout, profession mechanics, voices, cinematics...).

As for the video... absolutely love it. Can't wait to see the other dungeons and their intro videos and play through them. Looks like a lot of fun.

It doesn't matter how many times I watch it, it's still superb. I do believe it's the best way to do a cinematic, really, totally makes thing better and obviously matches Guild Wars 2 perfectly. Thanks a lot for your hard work.

Even though it's not really news, I always enjoy watching a good cinematic.

Well done.

it is Steve Blum. actually, i think he sounds the exact same way when he voiced Grunt in Mass Effect 2. he's probably one of the best voice actors in the industry, so i'm sure it's not that hard for him to change his voice a bit. ;) he also voiced Pyre, as well as the player in Prophecies and Factions campaign. :)

They are indeed similar. They are Magdaer (Adelbern's) and Sohothin (Rytlock's). Sohothin originally belonged to Prince Rurik, but somehow Rytlock has acquired it. "It is believed that if either this sword or its twin returns to the haunted remains of Ascalon City in the hands of an heir of King Doric (the only known descendant being Queen Jennah), the ghosts there will finally be laid to rest." (Taken from GW2Wiki)

There are some people in this thread who hadn't, lol.

It's basically a blog post, too.

Because there was no way to be officially excited now we are and we
get to voice our opinions or lack thereof like the quote above. :p

It's also a good thing to always multiply your amazement and enthusiasm by a factor of 4 to keep the DEVS positive, motivated and hard at work to make GW 2 the best there is out there when it's finally ready by or before Christmas. ;)

Guild Wars 2 cinematics video FTW. I think this style of video will also include the very same quality for our main character cut-scenes we've been complaining about. As they seem to be hinting about in the article. The more stuff Anet shows me the more I'm leaning towards a GOTY and rating of 10 /10. Eat your heart out and wallet other MMO's. :D
