Since Guild Wars 2 has the player fill in the attributes themselves, will they be permanent? If I do a certain distribution of points that I don't like, will I be able to change them?

At the panel at SDCC last weekend the same question was asked. You will be able to respec. They have not yet decided how it will be done (frequency, cost, conditions etc.).

I was planning on playing my character with different specs depending on what the group needs atm, so the thing that we cant reassign attributes like we could in GW1 is rather worrisome for me.

ehm wat? The post above you?

It is indeed confirmed that you will be able to reassign attribute points, just not how yet. But there will be a way to.

His concern seems to be over a potential (and presumably likely) cost to reassign skill points.  Remember when GW1 came out, you used to have to level up, and when you did, you could lower ONE skill point by ONE.  Compare that to the current system and you can understand why he is concerned.

In GW1 is very easy because is not an open world, so you just go to a city, and do it.

But in GW2 I don't have any idea of how this will be managed, they could repeat the same method by allowing us to reset in cities, but if you walk outside the city, you can't. Just an idea.

Players can still adjust their attributes. A character is given attribute points each time they level and players can assign them as they see fit. These attributes are much more like traditional RPG attributes and are shared among all professions. Respeccing attributes will of course be very easy to do.
