Been checking this game out - looks pretty good from what ive seen so far - fairly unique skill system that lets you be what you want to be, within slight borders. Also completely free ;)

A forum Search didnt turn anything related to this game up - so thought i would throw it on here to see if anybody has any interest.

Have a look :) Beta opt ins now!

Beta Update 1: - 23/11/11

Haven't had much of a chance just yet to really sit down and give this a good playing, I currently have a level 6 Templar however and am enjoying it immensly.

The production value on this game is staggering for a free release, Sounds are all great, Graphics are impressive and art style is really fitting, not to mention horribly dark (Which I love).

I will try and give you guys some more info when I get a good chance to put some hours in.

Cheers.

Beta Update 2: - 9/12/11

Apologies guys - havent even been able to play PoE due to my PC crashing, I am now stuck with this horrible E-PC (for those who dont know, they are a tiny 11" laptop, with no graphics, or memory..in this one's case) until the new year.

I will keep trying to update with other peoples posts when I can.

Thanks!

Edit: I have stopped playing the game as it's not my kind of thing! Best of luck to the company and all the people continuing to play!

Hmm, interesting.

I'll have to look into it, as I'm afraid of what free-to-play really entails.

As i understand its totally F2P apart from some microtransactions - with a similar philosophy to ANet, the Microtransactions are NON essential ones - only aesthetic items apparently.

Yeah. I've heard that spiel before.

Off-yopic, but I'm actually surprised more companies don't take adavantage of the B2P setup GW had.

EDIT: Are classes genderlocked? If they are then my interest will considerably diminish.

Not that i know of - will have to double check the website but i dont see why they would make that kind of a decision in a game like this.

Just as a heads up. Closed beta is 10th August, so if you register on the forum now, you have a chance to be randomly chosen for beta participation. One thing's for sure: I'll definitely be checking out this game.

Looks pretty cool for a free game, I'll probably try it on release (if GW2 does not release before ^^). It certainly looks a lot like D3.

Sometimes i mus thank the internets.

TB:s WTF video made me remember about Path of Exile. and PoE:s forum made me remember Gw2guru. (i kinda forgot about this site... when my bookmarks vanished into thin air.)

anyways I'm now back. (and I'll probably be active from now onwards... at least until gw2 releases, after that  i won't have time for anything.

Already signed up, this is a no-brainer for me. I will get this game no matter what :)

I don't find it similar to D3, more D2 with much better gfx. It looks a lot darker to me then D3. I just hope they will get it out soon because when D3 hits the stores there will be a lot less interest I think.

I don't like the UI, it looks so old.

Other than that, I signed up and am hoping for a closed beta key.

If you liked D2 and you're waiting for D3, you'll like it. I haven't played enough to really make a relevant review, but so far it's pretty fun.

The skill system is pretty awesome. Skills aren't restricted to classes, you get them from gems that you socket into items which is cool. As for the cash shop, the devs have stated you can only purchase cosmetic items. You can also pay for a private league which you can modify the rules of the game, which sounds really fun.

Due to the way they've made the game (as previously stated "Diablo with Materia") it would cost an extra $250,000 to make alternate gender models for every archetype (they aren't really classes) using every skill and weapon in the game.

Gender locking is in.

Sounds good.
Looking forward to an open beta so that I can try it for myself, seems the invites to the closed one are moving at a snails pace.

Just got invited to closed beta - will try and update OP whenever i can with any relevant info/rough reviews (have to be fairly careful about what type of info is released apparently - if anything isnt finalised and i tell you guys they kick me out :( )

EDIT: Just read gender-locking post - A little bit of a downer for me, But will still give this game a serious look into.

Watch this space!

Don't worry, there's no NDA and they won't kick you out.

They've only asked the beta testers not to criticize the game too harshly for features that aren't finished or even implemented yet even though they're planned.

You can see what's in the pipeline for the future in their manifesto here: http://www.pathofexi.../betamanifesto/

Oh, and welcome to the beta. :)

Um, the email they send you when you get accepted tells you not to reveal anything from new builds of the game with people outside the beta or they might terminate your access. There's no formal NDA as you can get permission to stream the game's current build, but there are limits to the information you are supposed to give out.

I just got invited to the beta; downloading the game now. I totally forgot this game existed / that I had signed up for the beta.

The screenshots and the videos look great, I can't wait to try it out.

I am in beta and have to say that it is an impressive game for a free to play game AND new studio which GGG is. If it only had more lore(it is a beta though, so that point is void). I Like Dark Bible feel of Diablo(or rather the feel Diablo series HAD).

Off topic: Is Anyone else greatly vexed by recent outbreak of ROLE-PLAYING games without any ROLE-PLAY at all(as in bland, empty characters in bland, empty World doing nothing really important{that or we all are Heroes...})?
