We have just posted our interview with Jeff Grubb and Stéphane Lo Presti from ArenaNet on our blog GuildWars2.com.pl.

We are discussing weather in Tyria, HoM, guild system, character mobility, endgame and the influence of Elona and Cantha on Tyrian culture.

The whole interview in English can be found here: bit.ly/gw2-interview

Hope you like it :)

Interesting read, though not much we haven't heard. The continent/cultures thing was notable for me. Is it really that far away that so much is still not ready even for tidbits? After all this time?

That's what I found odd too Sard. Unless they're just planning to release lots of info towards the end of the year after the Paris convention :D I think it was Colin who said before this convention season we won't hear that much from them (I think that was about a month or so before gamescom) but afterwards there will be a lot of information going around (and during the convention season there was a lot of new info in the forms of interviews/videos). So maybe they're planning a similar approach again with Paris Games Week, tight-lipped before it's here but afterwards a bunch of info to swim around in. At least that's what I'm hoping for haha :)

EDIT: Moocube: I feel maybe that's the name of the marketplace? Unless that's already been named and I'm being slow.

Nice read thanks for posting this.I'm excited that the weather in Guild Wars 2 will be dynamic and change.I think this adds to the immersion of the game.

I also can't wait to see what they do with the holidays and festivals in Guild Wars 2.

"the most important financial institution in Tyria" By the sound of it, it must be tied in or directly involved with the marketplace?

The article was nice, and provided a little lore.  All the mechanics questions seem to get really vague answers as expected.

...You know, there would be something fitting about releasing the Mesmer in Paris.  The styles just kinda work together.

They probably won't anyway though.

The question about dynamic weather effecting events, we do know there's at least one case of this working the other way around. Colin said there was an Ice Elemental boss in the Norn starter area that would cause a blizzard until he was defeated by players. I think there might be more cases of bosses causing the weather to change as well.

Wasn't there also an example given earlier on of a snow storm that completely blocked off a certain path over a mountain? Or did I just imagine that?

I think he meant "normal" weather, like if it rains randomly at your location (so not tied to an event or a boss), you get chances to get knocked down when you run.

I do hope they work the whole shortcut thing as much as they can. Really adds to the exploration factor (at least during the games first few months before they are all revealed and well known).

I would love to see weather have effect on movement. When it rains...it's slippery, when it snows it slows you down just a tad.

I hadn't heard about the HoM being accessible via our home instance. I know you can TP there as well but knowing it exists in the actual game world is a nice touch.

Maybe you teleport there from your home instance.

...and the Arch Exchange sounds like a bank.

Was the interview done recently?

Or was it done awhile ago, and just posted today.

I mean, is this blogpost they mention still accurate?

I'm kind of the other way around.  I love immersion as much as the next person, but not to the point of being unnecessarily annoying.  For example, if I'm in a fight with a player in pvp or just a really difficult NPC, sometimes a knockdown can make or break a fight.  If that KD comes from the bad luck of being affected by the weather, there is a well of nerd-rage in me that begins to churn.  Especially when I know my skill was sufficient to win.  :p

I'd love it in the cities though, just the animation of slipping though...kinda like the idle animations in a way.  No real affect, but looks like your character is reacting to the weather.  Oh well.

It is accurate. I have a feeling most people clicked it and scrolled to the bold words. If you read the entire article it actually explains the process of them slimming the system down to the 4 attributes. From that article:

Quote

Power—increased attack damage.
Precision—increased critical strike chance.
Vitality—increased health.
Toughness—increased defense/armor.

These new attributes solved all of the old problems, simplified the system, and made already-interesting choices more meaningful for the players. We added the toughness because we felt three attributes did not give us enough diversity in the item system, and its straightforward use complemented the others well. What choices will you make when assigning attribute points to your character in Guild Wars 2?

That is actually a dynamic event, causing weather to occur, not the other way around. The weather they were talking about, is the kind of ambient randomised cosmetic weather, and whether that weather(lol) had little gameplay effects, such as being slippery or what not.

They really should say how the GW1 and GW2 accounts will be linked for HoM. I sure hope they don't use NCsoft master account because I have no idea what it is because I made it like 5 years ago... They should just ask for your original username and password or one of your cd keys...

as usual, they leave most of the questions unanswered and just repeat the same info we already have over and over and over...so tired of "we can't say yet"...

I think this interview is old... they are referencing a blog post from March 8th.  (PAX EAST).

I wish the OP would come here and confirm WHEN the interview was actually conducted.

I posted the interview yesterday, and that is exactly the day when we received the answers from ArenaNet. We've sent the questions to them a bit earlier, though ;).

I don't think it is, to be honest. Well, I mean, we don't know, but I thought someone at ArenaNet mentioned the Xunlai still being around, or someone found a concept art or something. Either way, I'm sure I read a post by someone here saying that the Xunlai were still here providing storage solutions.

Ah! Found it - a GuildMag interview with Ree Soesbee:

Quote

Ree Soesbee
The Xunlai and the Zaishen orders still exist in Guild Wars 2, but hold positions of significantly less prominence than they once did. We can’t tell you much about account storage, banking, and so forth, but we can say that their ties to Cantha have been mostly lost, due to the severing of all contact between the northern and southern continents because of the rise of Orr.

So it is possible that the Arch exchange will just be buying and selling, and the Xunlai will handle storage, but there's no official word just yet.

Am I the only one finding it obvious that the Arch Exchange must have something to do with Lion's Arch? It might be the name of the LA market place, or perhaps an organization located in LA that is only involved in story and/or lore.
