If people are wondering why I don't care I played Mech Warrior when it was starting out and I never liked the game at all. I didn't understand it at the time and it has just sunk in that way with me.

Also, his art located here (http://flyingdebris....scraps#/d488kxr) is perhaps the best thing I have ever seen. XD

[MATT C] Each game spawns its own dedicated server, these are not persistent like WoW, as mentioned that would take us into MMO territory. There is persistent game world information, i.e. match results are communicated to affect the balance of power in the Inner Sphere, who owns what planet etc. but there is no true persistent world, more of a persistent meta-game.

Quite excited to play this game. Though the community currently seems to be full of tabletop gamers and old clans.

Also, new blog post says: Cry3 Engine! Fantastic engine, even if Crysis 2 was a let down. It's extremely well optimized and should make near photo realistic scenes.

This applies to mechs in that simply scaling up a small design poses a lot of problems, so if you were really trying to engineer them, you wouldn't do it that way.

Hahaha! That's actually pretty funny! Yeah, I remember him playing Steel Battalion with that huge set up. 2 joysticks, peddles, and a 40 button console in front of him. Just to add effect he'd wear a headset and sunglasses with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. I come from a long line of nerds.

:D Too true - that was my experience as a JF fan - half the world hates you, while the writers and half your fellow fans are busy giving them reason to.
(Maybe slightly exaggerated.)

Then again, I've always been a fan of the Wardens, anyways. :D

Also Clan Nova Cat, but they became practically part of the Combine after the Clan War anyway.
I've never really understood why people hated the Jade Falcons. On the contrary, it was always Smoke Jaguar that had that special place for me. Someting about them just annoys me for some reason.

They are Crusaders. That's more than enough reason to hate them.

Also another mech game called Hawken looks very similar to Mechwarrior.

TL;DR version:
Second Khan of Nova Cats was attracted to the SaKhan of Clan Smoke Jaguar who was equally attracted to her. She had a vision where she saw that to pursue the affection would destroy her clan, so she ended romantic relations with the Jaguar SaKhan. He had a fit, killed one of the Nova Cat totem animals (Dagda Feline) and stuffed it in an Iron Womb as a message.
Blood feud from there on out.

It is much faster paced than any Mechwarrior game from what I've seen so far, making it more of a shooter than sim imo.
And it is one of the reasons why I don`t look so much forward to playing it.

In semi-unrelated note: Been using the free release of MW4: Mercs to get back into my old habits with piloting a mech. Plopped my butt down in a stock mech faux Trial of Position and killed three machines, each 5 tonnes lighter, but in a map that heavily favored them, then nearly disabled a fourth before falling. If I remember my lore correctly, that would put me at about Star Captain rank.

It looks like they're aiming for an ambitious metagame going on in MWO. Constantly changing borders, player controlled planets... it looks like DUST314 without the EVE component and with 'Mechs.
Must start to plan my time between GW2 and this. :D

I'm hoping they stay true to the sphere factions. ALSO I'm hoping we can opt to be a Tank Driver or Assault Flight Craft Pilot and not just Mechs.
EDIT No Tanks, just Mech's :-(
Don't get me wrong I loved playing Battle Tech as a kid, and Mechwarrior as an adult on the PC. I'd just like to see some options open for players.
EDIT No getting out of Mechs, No Ground to Mech combat, No PvE experience.
Also please allow for custom camouflage or custom Merc Camouflage.
EDIT Yes and in
Anyone know if OMNI Mechs will be in?
3049 is the beginning of the Clan Invasions. So looks like the possibility of OMNI Mechs will make an appearance of some kind.

The proposed timeline was 15 years before the clans. But from the IS News on the site it appears they decided to go with the clan invasion after all? The inclusion of 'Core Worlds' that are story based and developer controlled gets me thinking. If they are really interested in following the core canon, that means there'll be battles that you have to lose?
Also, this might be a bit too far into the future but, WarShip and DropShip combat!

They said it's only mech combat - NOW. Which implies they're eventually going to include combined arms. I might take a whirl at an Aerospace fighter. I do love me a Sabutai class ASF. :3
