Similar to this thread, but now with the Elder Dragons. :p

I'm not saying that they could be your "patrons", however, if you could follow them (like a member of the Sons of Svanir, for example), which dragon would be it?

You can choose as many as you want, but one or two is the most viable.

I'll start it:

Primordus and Jormag.

Primordus, as the "incarnation" of fiery destruction and fury, and Jormag, because he's "cool" and the power of ice is with him. ;)

In all fairness, and i doubt many will choose it. But im liking the "Deep sea dragon" (Due to no name been announced). And i'm really looking forward to seeing whats instore for, lore and game wise, within this dragon.

None of them. All 5 are my sworn enemy, and it's thus my duty as a brave hero of Tyria to defeat each of them.

Rodgort is my dragon.

Deep sea dragon, jormag or the soup dragon for me :)

Deep sea because of the whole control over water and tentacle thing... as well as having a cool sea theme (think davy jones crew from pirates of the caribean 2&3 but more twisted).

Jormag because ice rocks :E

and the soup dragon because he is epic :)

Zhaitan on nr1. He looks badd-ass! And his name means Satan

the Deep sea dragon is nr2. I think he looks awsome. But i'm not a fan of water monsters.. Tentacles are scary! And so is the deep blue sea

All hail the dragon which should have been Primordus! (Would of been so funny to see the first/second dragon speculation turn into an Elder Dragon).

All Hail Rodgort!

The Cult of Rodgort is recruiting. Requirements are as followed:
- You must love fire.
- You must burn thatched roof cottages.
- You must love shouting RODGOOOOOOOOOOOORT!

Fun aside, I wonder if Rodgort is even canonical... doubt it personally, but I would love to see it - especially since we have an image of Rodgort in the form of the skill icon for Rodgort's Invocation.

Correction: his name IS Satan. Well, Zatan. :p (For those who don't get the joke: Shaitan is islamic for Satan, so Zhaitan=Zatan)

Jormag. The eerie atmosphere of Drakkar Lake always intrigued me, i loved the way Anet made it so Jormags presence, while unnoticed, caused those passing to become nervous. That whole area is deadly silent. I can only imagine what it would be like to be near the dragon while its awake.

Uh... wow. Yeah, I don't know. I'd need to know more about the individual dragons before picking my favourite I think.

...do I get credit as a founding member of the Cult of Rodgort from that run in the Underworld? :p

Otherwise, I agree with Sirius - Too early to differentiate. Possibly Kralkatorrik, if he's a lightning/storm dragon as depicted in a concept art that people have speculated was Kralkatorrik.

Non.

I have no desire to serve a higher power.

I'm not impressed by the fact that all they have been doing so far is serve as an annoyance to the inhabitants of Tyria. At least the gods have the power to merge dimensions.

I dont think turning races into twisted minions and slowly closing in on all sides would just be considered an annoyance by the races of Tyria :p

Abaddon already had the twisted minions down. Since the Dragons most likely will be killable they don't seem more impressive then the gods.

Actually both sides are on an equal level for me. I've not seen anything impressive from the gods, the only god act actually done in the timeframe of GW1, is Abaddons plot which resulted in Nightfall, which was foiled before it started rolling out full force. All the other things they have supposidly done have only been described by humans.

In terms of doing anything, the 5 true gods have yet to show up, and they have let Tyria become the stomping ground of 5 powerful forces who are able to twist everything around them. So like i said, both have yet to actually show anything truely impressive, all we have for the gods are the words of biased humans.

Rodgort is based off of Trogdor. And how can you say something looks more like a demon than a dragon when you only see the head? That looks like it could easily be the head of a dragon.

I've read the skill's trivia on wiki, though I still don't know who the hell is Trogdor (aside from the fact that it is a destructive character in something).

It actually looks like a Balrog. And how can you say that it is a dragon? Have you not seen GW dragons?

Who Trogdor is. I am not saying it is, I said it could be a dragon. But it is definably not a GW styled demon - now, if it were a typical rip-off-of-the-generic-Satan-demon, then yeah, that would fit. And since nothing even remotely similar to Balrogs exist in GW, nothing points to that. It could be a dragon, though, it might not be similar to the ones we've seen the heads of in game thus far (Primordus, Glint, Kuunavang/Saltspray, and Jormag), but tell me: Is Jormag's head like a normal dragons' head? No. We know GW dragon's don't take the generic look, at least the elder dragons won't. But going to Prophecies, that could look like the head of a european dragon who's horns curve forward.

Not saying that it is, just saying it could. And given the reference, I think it is more likely than it being a demon or something that doesn't exist in GW. :p

Well the Titans in Prophecies looked awfully a lot like the movie Balrog if you ignore the 3rd leg and lack of wings.

Lol, well having gave all the other races in Tyria magic, I would say that's pretty impressive...oh and btw its the six true Gods....not five.

Giving magic to all the races but we've yet to learn where that magic actually came from. All we have is that they gave them the magic. And the sixth god, Kormir has shown up, we saw her become a god. She didnt exist prior to Nightfall. So like i said the 5 true gods with Abaddon locked away.

Something common i'm seeing on all GW2 forums is that people are saying one side(Dragosn vs Gods, Gods vs Dragons) is more powerful than the other despite us having no clue whatsoever how they would hold up against each other or what relation they both hold.

The Rodgort image kind of reminds me of this guy, although I somewhat doubt that was the intention.

I would like to very very kindly disagree with you completely on this statement.

Even the Burning Titan doesn't really look like any depiction of the Balrog - whether the Diablo universe version or the Lord of the Ring universe version. The only similarity is that they are on fire...

Supposedly the gods gained their power from a draconic source, which could or could not be the elder dragons. I think that gaining the powers from the dragons makes the dragons more impressive.

Er..Aside from interviews and implications, what else suggests this? I'm not going to buy into the Gods' power being derived from any sort of other living being (except from a previous God) until the very last moments before some level of blatant suggestion or confirmation i.e. we read some dialogue from an in-game source that has looked into it that makes the connection. Dev commentary doesn't mean much until we actually see it integrated into the game in some way or on some level.

After all, wouldn't it be absolutely priceless if the places of power bit was literally referring to the places and not the previous inhabitants? (Turns out, reality was distorted there somehow producing refined chunks of Mists that radiate their energy into the areas, preserving/extending the lifetime and enhancing the powers of any beings that come into contact with it, be it via consumption or harnessing it in some manner. Once we learn of this, then we defeat Zhaitan by destroying or stealing the chunks of Mists for examination and usage against the other Elder Dragons. What a twist! By the way, if this actually turns out to be the case, I call dibs on being the first around here to suggest the idea as far as I am aware.)

__________________

May I ask why people like yourself and others seem to doubt the Gods so much? The gods have been kind to the lesser races in Tyria, by giving them magic to make their everyday lives easier. Everything they've done in Tyria was for the benefit of all races and even when they made mistakes they took steps to correct it.

But now all I hear is "oh the gods aren't gods" or "they got their power from the dragons" or my personal favorite "the gods are weaker than the dragons and live in fear of them".

I mean listen, I know in trying to hype up the dragons Anet said their just as strong as the gods. But I believe that was a slip on their part because of how we've battle and bested former gods and in classic Anet's style of escalation, they had to come up with something big and powerful to threaten Tyria.

So in came the dragons, and the best way to make them seem powerful was too compare them to something that is.....enter the gods. So please don't believe all the hype about Zhaitan or Jorrmag or whatever the others are named, because I'm sure at the end of it all, when things get grim and it seems like all hope is lost....the gods once again will be the ones to come to our aid and help us defeat them...Can I get a Amen?
