The Flameseeker Chronicles: Community guide to Guild Wars

The timing on this was pretty funny - I'd been working on that column for about a week and a half, collecting all my links and all that super fun research stuff.  I laughed when I saw this thread, and finally decided "what the heck, I'll plug the column."

I'm glad nobody minded - I had a blast writing it and am excited to share the info.

ROFL!

that is great, we can see by the parking lot that ANet is hard at work developing the game to it's finest potential, or they are out of Bagels. :D

Can we go street view on that shot?

Street view shows only trees, cars and a corner of that long rectangular building. There's a wall of trees between the parking lot and the street; ANet is too clever!
I believe that is the correct location. I cropped out the coordinates.

The overhead shot is old: February 28, 2005. So Guild Wars 1 was not even released then.

That's their mailing address. I'm pretty sure it's just a P.O. box.
IIRC, one of the CRMs confirmed their business address was just a P.O. box, but their physical address is different.

Well it took me a few minutes to find that location in Google Maps. I kind of understand why they want seclusion and the location looks like the ones in some of their pictures and descriptions. Even though I found the building on the above map it does not say Arena net and there is no Street view unless somehow you can remove the trees from the street.

I'm showing 1300 114th Avenue Southeast, Bellevue, WA 98004-6943 is the map MisterB is showing.

If you read this you will see that other address is a fictitious mailing address. They keep the real address quiet.

I think it is interesting that a regular Guild Wars column has suddenly appeared on that site, given nothing is really going on in GW1, and GW2 has been silent for almost two months, with not much happening between the two trailers anyway.

I think that ArenaNet is probably going to start doling out regular doses of GW2 info soon, and MMO sites have been given advance notice to get prepared for this.

Hm, it's a nice location. That roof looks like it needs some work, but it might just be a little weathered.

You have no idea how much I wish that was true.  /whimper The fact of the matter is that we've recently begun quite a few columns over at Massively.  Our awesome managing editor explains it a bit here.  Several staff members have columns focusing on the games they love.  Kyle Horner has one on Star Trek Online, Eliot Lefebvre is covering City of Heroes, and so on.

I've got the Guild Wars column because I've loved the game since the beginning of 2007 and am more familiar with it than anyone else on staff.  It started at this particular time because this is when all the columns started.  I was thrilled to be tapped for it, and writing it is seriously the highlight of my work week.

So while there's no huge, earth shattering news on GW2 just around the corner that I know of, the column will still be up every Monday.  It will be a mix of GW and GW2, evolving as we learn more about GW2.
