"Links to Everything" was setup as a place to go for well- anything. It consists of productivity tools, PC tuning programs, all and the like. We try to list all of the most asked for, as well as hidden gems. We posted this originally for our members, but figured Guru needed it's own thread as well (thanks Sojar).

Browse through these and let them inspire you to start working on something great, whether it be tweaking your PC or creating something new.

If you find a link that is bad, please inform me and I will find a replacement or remove it. Even though these have been personally or known to have been guild tested as safe, it is recommended you scan all downloads with an antivirus program.

Any program that is not free will be italicized.

In your tech/hardware section, you have a couple of links for component suppliers in the US. Any chance you could add some links for suppliers in other parts of the world?

e.g. for the UK
www.overclockers.co.uk
www.dabs.com

videocardbenchmark.net has a CPU equivalent, though I have no idea how relevant it may be,... cpubenchmark.net :)

Also, if we're adding tech/hardware sites for all countries; Tweakers.net is probably *the* best Dutch tech/hardware-site.

I think a few useful utilities could be added:

CystalDiskMark: HDD benchmarking/performance testing utility
CrystalDiskInfo: good hdd health monitoring tool
GPU-Z good for checking hardware if you don't know what you have and GPU-Z is an awesome monitoring tool for video cards.
gparted maybe? Very useful tool to manage drive partitions since windows can't do everything.
Throttlestop maybe, but that one is more dangerous to use, here's the guide: http://forum.noteboo...stop-guide.html

If you're going to list media players like itunes and VLC, i think Media Player Classic Home Cinema, foobar 2000 and Zune software deserve a mention as well.

You might want to mention Opera in the browsers too.

Tech hardware site that deserves mention: www.anandtech.com, they also have a comparison tool: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/2
Good starting guide on SSDs: http://thessdreview....eginners-guide/
For networking related issues: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/

Might want to add www.memoryexpress.com and www.ncix.com for to the list of tech hardware suppliers.

While i am at it, add those to the drivers:
http://support.amd.c...ages/index.aspx
http://www.nvidia.co...aspx?lang=en-us

This is just a suggestion, but maybe regroup utilities like CPU-Z and HWmonitor into a monitoring category.

HW Monitor (a simple and easy to use Hardware Temperature Utility Tool)

In regards to this a multimedia section may well be interesting to a lot of people, and from my own experience with trying to view DvD's on my computer i found out that: Windows Media Player Classic Home Cinema; from http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/

Is just the thing you may need to get rid of the horrible 'you can't play this DvD' messages i got with the normal 'media player', all leading to irritating pay to d/l codex or w/e to play a DvD.

To actually make soundfiles i use Audacity : http://audacity.sour...ge.net/?lang=en
Which has served me well over the last couple of years.

Also wanted to thank Freelancer for keeping this upto date, very usefull list !

MPC-HC is my media player of choice for anything not supported by Zune, i nuked VLC from my hard drive soon after switching to MPC-HC. Of course,  media players are a matter of supported formats and preference, but i'll take anything over itunes. I spent one year without itunes and yes i own and ipod, just reinstalled it to update my library and now i remember why i got rid of it.

I'm going to look into that.

Personally I've recommended VLC Player for most, because it's so universal. It will literally play nearly anything you throw at it. (it comes with most every codec out there).

MPC-HC is also really nice, but its nearly the same as VLC. MPC has more features, but VLC is lighter weight.

----------

Added memrise.com

A site that allows you to learn languages/new topics while playing a game to reinforce positive behavior. Not only addictive, but a great learning tool.

----------

Added Audacity. What a wonderful program :)

Oh, this is a fairly interesting thread. Great idea! Of course, there are still more links to be added, and here are my suggestions (apologies if something has already been added):

Audio/Video

DVDVideoSoft - simply a must have for all your video and audio conversion excursions and youtube downloading (and more than that)!

Media Players

KMPlayer - a really excellent free media player. Plays almost anything!

Books & Comics

calibre - this is simply a must have for all your e-book organizing habits.
Adobe Digital Editions - a very sleek interface for reading books.
ComicRack - reading comics has never been easier. :surprised:

PC Maintenance

Wise Registry Cleaner - really cleans the registry.

Other stuff

Auto Shutdown - a neat lil' software for when you're not around the PC to turn it off.
HJSplit - ever had an archive you wanted to chop off in multiple smaller archives? This is what you need!
TeraCopy - copypastaing has never been easier.
XNote Stopwatch - useful if you don't have a mobile at hand.
yWriter - are you a writer or want to be one? This can help get you organized!

Gaming

Overwolf - an excellent gaming overlay with a ton of widgets for communication.

English

WordWeb - a great lexicon of the English language.

IRC - You might wanna list links for the all popular mIRC and xchat and such.

Protection, you're missing AntiVir.... and for some reason AVG is there...
Office, Replace OpenOffice with LibreOffice.
Music, add Foobar 2000.
OS, replace memtest with memtestplus
Web, add WOT.

Wow, totally forgot about trixx and yeah it'll work on any GPU. Great little piece of software.

Anyways, just took a look at the utilities i have on my desktop and here are the ones i have that aren't listed, some serve the same purpose as other programs you listed though:

HWiNFO64: http://www.hwinfo.com/download64.html -> monitoring
Cinebench: http://www.maxon.net.../cinebench.html -> benchmark
wPrime: http://www.wprime.net/Download/ -> benchmark
superpi: http://www.techpower...I_Mod_v1.5.html (single threaded benchmark)
AS SSD: http://www.alex-is.d...D Benchmark.zip Direct link to dl as the homepage is in german
ATIFlash: http://www.techpower...Flash_3.89.html + RBE: http://www.techpowerup.com/rbe/ dangerous stuff, but essential if you want to mod the vbios on AMD video cards.

Game Booster is a good tool for optimizing your PC for gaming. Its designed to reduce lag and increase FPS. It does this by stopping services and processors aswell as tweaking your OS (if you are using Windows 7 it will change your theme to basic when you start a game) to reduce overall resource consumption. It also clears your RAM.

MSI Afterburner can also be used for video recording and its completely free. You should also replace VLC media player with either MPC-HC, CCCP codec pack which has MPC-HC included or MPlayer. VLC sucks so bad no one should use it.

Smartpixel video recorder & editor should be in the audio/video recording directory, it is a very nice game video maker for the PC gamers.
