there are a lot more console gamers than computer gamers.

Obviously they aren't going to release a console version if it puts console or computer gamers at a disadvantage to eachother.

But if you can get to the point where you can't tell if someone is playing from a console or a PC based on their gameplay alone then everyone wins.

What's up?See the Fps world, ruined by the console. Now we don't have a good Fps like in the past. So, i don't want that this game would come on console, because they ruined this awesome mmorpg series.

Hey, there's another MMORPG stereotype waiting for ANet to blow it out of the window!

lolwut?  TF2 is crossplatform FPS between PC and console and I don't see people complaining.  AND there is way more adversity to overcome in a crossplatform FPS than an MMO such as guild wars.

Yeah, BF3 sucks, so does TF2.

I think it totally make sense since the next-gen consoles are coming out and they do have sufficient hardware power to support GW2. So I don't see any reason for Anet to completely ignore the console market.

Nothing is confirmed. Not sure how they can easily call 'confirmed'
Anyways, as long as it doesn't drag the game down (Like consoles usually do) , and it doesn't take away developing time from the actual game, it's fine by me.

This thread title needs to be changed. It wasn't confirmed at all. PC only games are always looking at the possibility of having a console port. It was even mentioned for StarCraft 2 way back in it's developement.

Not that I mind If they ever decide they want to port it to consoles. They can have fun with their 4 buttons. Anyways, more terrible attention grabbing journalism from GWInsider.

It might be two years old but it doesn't change the fact that Arena Net's primary goal is to deliver the best PC MMORPG experience. They have been exploring console possibility for 2 years, they may have got alot further down the road with it but I doubt it because Arena Net are one of the best companys at communicating information to there players, we have not heard anything about consoles geting GW2 besides there looking at it.

Even if they are going to have a GW2 version for consoles or even the same as PC but on console, it would be a good thing for the game as more income, more players, bigger community, would be a first for games to be cross platformed and linked PC - Console I mean fully linked, DUST 514 and EVE Online / CCP were planning something similar but that would be two different games and CCP are useless, this would be a first for the gaming industry and a pretty big achievement for Arena Net to pull off. Compared to swtor where they wasted there budget on crap Arena Net spent there budget to cover as much as possible.

I think either way alot are worrying over nothing. No point jumping to conclusions im sure they will tell us whats happening eventually.

I would have to agree. That's an awfully sensationalist claim, Seven. The text and clip you quoted made no direct connection between Guild Wars 2 and "console release". In fact, the "we are exploring options" was immediately preceded by "for other games".

It wasn't confirmed directly, but they were already talking about realising the  console version together with the PC version, so the possibility of a console version is pretty high. Else they, would specifically say, that there won't be any console version or that it would be in the distant future.

Confirmation is maybe a bit over the top, that's true.

I'm not againt consoles (i'm not a PC-only gamer), but i'm against games that get too simplyfied to land on consoles to match their control system or they outdated graphics. I don't want a simplyfied game at all. And I don't want a delayed release due to consoles compatibilities. Simply don't.

And ofc the fact that they don't want to release the game in the summer really scares me. If they do not release the game within may (i really doubt they can), they may retain it for september or christmas holydays to push sales ad further develop console version/implement stg wasn't planned for release.

This and the changes in cash shop wiki really make my personal sky fall. Definitely.

I was so hyped yesterday, and so depressed today. Please, not another super-easy/money-milk console game to launch for christmas. Please.

@shoros take a chill pill m8. I'm a consumer, I'm not a blind fan who is going to go along with everything developer says or does. I have nothing against consoles, I used to own one, but I think not every game should be on console or PC. Why I would hate to see GW on consoles is because they would have to split their resources between PC and consoles, meaning less content or decline in quality. If they want to make a console version they will have to make their UI and controls different for it. Like I said this is my opinion. And I just think consoles are not meant for MMORPG. If you don't like my opinion ignore it.

How does a PC game later being ported to console somehow retroactively make it worse?

I think "stay calm, don't panic" will become my new mantra.

We stated multiple times in public that we have a small team working on a console version, but that we are fully dedicated to make the most kickass game for PC (I think the official statement did not use the word kickass, in case someone wants to semantically disect my post ;) ).

I'm sorry, I respect your work for GWI, but this thread title is just too much sensationalism. Stop that please!

You know how ballistic people can get here, especially after the news-draught.

All these conference calls are for investors and marketing and business purposes.

What comes out of these talks is a whole different story.

You can get enough clicks for your site without nonsense like this...

Why is everyone so upset? Honestly people, we are all anxious for the game, but calm down a little.

What if you never saw a good game with both PC and console versions? I haven't seen a great MMO from a loving company either, and yet here I am, waiting for exactly that.

Comments like "this must be a joke" or "i'm going to kill myself if they do this" are just stupid. If you have anything against it or any suggestions to make, please do say it. But don't come here flaming that this is going to ruin everything just because it's something that has been done wrong over the years by other companies. And besides, they would never ruin the PC version for whatever reason -- they've stated that several times and we should trust them. So, knowing that, how exactly can a console version ruin any PC gamer's experience?

I think it's a really good idea.

I myself don't have a powerful PC, but would love to play GW2 on high. I played  GW1 since it came out and WoW when I got tired of it, and had no problem to do so, but when GW2 releases I will be in trouble, as I probably won't have a powerful enough machine to play it.

As long as everyone uses mouse and keyboard (by making their use compulsory) I welcome the port to console(s). My PC is more than OK for it's everyday use, no need to buy another one (an expensive one if it's for gaming) if I can spend around 300 bucks on a PS3/PS4/WiiU/whatsoever and save space and money!

Plus, this philosophy matches really well with casual gamers, surely one of ANet's multiple targets :P

I have to agree. They said that their top priority is making the best pc game ever. If a console version has to be dumbed down then I suspect it'll be completely separate from the pc version or theyd have told a whopping lie

If it's a pc port you probably won't get play it on high on consoles, only medium-low settings. And the chance that this is going to be on the next gen consoles sounds unlikely

OMG PANIC!

Seriously though, I would personally not be interested in a current generation console version cause they frankly suck compared to my powerhouse PC. I could be interested in a next gen console version at some point.

Main advantage of a console version is that i could play GW2 while lying in bed. This would also be a major advantage in ERP.

Sorry but the title is just wrong. There was no confirmation of anything, the only thing we learnt is that there may be a console version at some point that wont release at the same time as the pc version (which we knew already). And they said that the beta in the coming months (which we already knew). So kinda pointless article ...

Just to put it out there though, I dont see the benefit of console version as it just splits up the community.

I'd imagine it won't happen until the next Console generation, give as they're more than likely to be closer to PC's than current ones.
