Ugh these Gamespot guys do a truly terrible job. They both tend to walk around rather aimlessly (not in a good way), fail to understand or explain how something is actually working, and tend to get stuck or confused despite plenty of information letting them know what they need to do. They are also both so low-key and unenthusiastic that listening to them makes me feel like I'm in lecture.

This was a good study into how people who have never heard of GW 2 would react to the game, but for most people on this forum it's probably pretty boring or irritating to watch this.

That said, I somehow doubt many people who pick up the game will be quicker to understand than these folks. I enjoyed watching them to understand how most MMO gamers operate.

Yeah pretty boring video.

Was hilarious to see that one guy fighting that giant elemental boss while that other guy still hasn't taken one step xD

Lol man! I second that. Exactly how I feel about these guys too. Yesterday I downloaded selected vids to show off to my best friend who was coming over to my house. One of the vids were from these gamespot guys. We watched the first few minutes of it and I was like "err.. Let's skip this crap and watch MikeB preview. What a difference that was! It's always fun to listen to MikeB hehe.

Exactly what I was thinking as I watched it, verbatim.

I saw two things in that video, near the start, that were interesting however.

1) I saw a member of [ZoS] running around. 5:53-6:22.

2) I saw Protato running around. 3:12-3:30.

:D

This is definitely a tough obstacle to overcome, making people forget what they learned from other MMOs.
It's also a bit of a slap in the face of MMO players in general, as it shows that they have become content in playing like robots. :D

I'm just glad we can dodge stuff. I am yet to play this game yet think i can dodge things in other games. I try to and then i realize this isn't gw2, and i die...

When I play the game for the first time I might approach it like a Monster Hunter title where dodging is pretty much essential or you die. That said, I thought the GameSpot coverage was extremely boring to watch.

I know it shows how people who have never played the game operate and there's nothing inherently wrong with that. But I expect a bit more enthusiasm and professionalism from gaming journalists. There's been a lot of coverage done by people who hadn't played the game before and didn't really know what they were doing, but they were still more entertaining to watch.

I think that gamespot is the worst place for any game, beside games that are made by activision-blizzard or EA. They used to be good, but over the past few years I started to dislike them more and more. I mean they gave Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines only 7.5??? I mean wtf :D That game deservers minimum 9 :D

Actually, there isn't anything in the starting area of GW2 that would be that confusing than if you've been playing WoW like these presenters said they did. I feel kinda douchey saying it but I can't stand watching keyboard clickers/turners when you only have 3 skills to actually press. I can forgive people who have never played an MMO, or have played very little but these guys have clearly played WoW enough to remember skills that are similar to GW2.

After watching this and their earlier impressions I was in shiock how badly they spoke. Some of them couldn't say even 1 full sentence. I always tough journalists are a little more.. hmm articulate? Afterall they play and write about games for years yet they have so many problems with making.. I don;t  know.. a point or something?

Yeah, watching him clicking on the skills was a little painful :(.  However, I think it's important to see how ppl who are part of the "general" mmo crowd will take the changes that GW2 has made.  Generally, once they catch on that combat is different and then start to adjust their playstyles they have nothing but good things to say about it.

What is the deal with so many people moaning about clickers?

Genuine question, I just don't get it. I mean it bears no effect on the people saying it whatsoever.

I'm going to start moaning about people who hit keys for skills and see the general reaction. Bet I get called a clicker!

I don't really have a problem with clickers too much, especially when it's just watching some guy in a video, but it really is sort of a bad habit to pick up. It's a pretty inefficient way of playing. But hey, whatever works for you.

I kind of figured it was a bad habbit, but some people get so irate about it when they see it. Really odd :)

Oh well.

While it is somewhat frustrating when people in videos play poorly, you can hardly expect people to be experts after 3 days or less experience.

I just couldn't stand listening to that Maybury fellow after five minutes.  How is that there is a plethora of exciting narrators and bloggers on YouTube (for free) but those paid to talk about it on game sites are usually drab and monotone or squeaky and annoying.  I have to imagine there is greater voice talent waiting to be hired.

Just horrid.  Thank you for posting the video all the same, OP.

The guys in the video, have no emotion or enthusiasm in there voice.
You can tell they are only doing it because they have to, to get paid, makes me sad.
That plus the terrible gameplay make this horrible, I'm not bothered by clickers, as long as they understand the core mechanics, that's not here.
